Part 2: Today we are checking out the Canon PowerShot G7X Mark III. This has been dubbed the “influencer camera” because of its prominence amongst the social media influencer community. It really is a solid compact camera delivering 20MP with an equivalent 24-100mm zoom lens, and a flip out touch screen. It’s very easy to use, has a nice form factor, and the CMOS sensor produces very nice colors. Are they over hyped? Maybe, but I really did enjoy shooting with it. It came out in 2017, has a 24.2MP CMOS sensor, which delivers great colors, and is weather sealed so you don’t have to worry about getting caught in some rain. It’s a very capable camera for the size, the idea was to give a camera to the amateur and enthusiasts market that would deliver pro level results, and this camera does just that by shooting high quality raw images. It is so small that you really can forget you’re carrying it when it’s on a strap, so it’s great to travel with. Part 2: Today we are checking out a more modern handycam from Canon, if 2017 is new enough to be modern in your book. This is the Canon Vixia HF R800, which is a handycam that takes SD cards. It shoots full HD video, but has a small sensor, so the image paired with a long zoom range still give you the throwback dad cam vibes. It honestly has been a really fun one to take around with me lately, and I am able to get the videos off it easier than the mini dv cameras I own, so it’s been getting a lot more use. Today we are checking out the Canon Sure Shot Zoom 105, also known as the Prima Super 105, and the Autoboy Luna 105. It’s a decently capable zoom camera from the Canon Sure Shot line, but it was marketed as an affordable options for family’s looking for a zoom camera. Today we are checking out the @godox_global C100. It’s a snapshot style transparent viewfinder camera. No way to review your images, no settings or interesting mode options, it really is a point and shoot. It also shoots video in 1920x1080, but don’t expect too much from it. It has a 2MP sensor, which does a good job of delivering old digicam vibes, but I still have to say you can get more out of a digicam from the early 2000s image quality wise. Where this camera really shines is the low price point, and the fact it doubles as a light meter, which is very pocketable. Today we are checking out the Canon PowerShot ELPH 115 IS, also known as the IXY 90F, or the IXUS 132. It may be best known as the Hailey Bieber camera, as she’s been seen with the blue version in photos. It is part of the very popular PowerShot line, and just like most of them, they have a solid lens, a good sensor, this one’s got a 16MP CMOS, and they’re slim and very pocketable. I really appreciate how simple this one is, with only Auto or Program, it is very much a snapshot camera, but it doesn’t over complicate it with a bunch of different modes. It’s comfortable shoot one handed, and produces softer images, which I know many people are looking for, as I get a lot of comments asking what digicams shoot ‘film like photos.’ If that’s what you’re looking for, this might just be the camera for you. #canon #canonpowershot #canonixy #haileybeiber #digicam

Today we are checking out the Olympus Infinity Jr, also known as the AF-10 Super. It’s the baby of the series, following the previous videos of the Olympus Infinity or AF-1, and Olympus Infinity or AF-1 Twin, this is the baby of the series. It’s smaller, still has weatherproofing, but it also has a slower lens than the original AF-1. Not to say it’s lacking, the lens performs great, and the camera is quick to shoot. I can see the hype around these on social media lately, they have a really cool design with the sliding lens cover, which acts as an on/off switch, they’re so small, so they’re easy to take anywhere, and they have a touch screen. One of the big appeals was the Sweep Panorama mode which stitched photos together as you pan, making a panorama image. Today we are checking out the Olympus SuperZoom 115, also known as the OZ 115. The SuperZoom and OZ line took a more interesting design approach than the more refined and stylish Stylus and MJU lines. Some of them looked really funky, this is a more conservative design in the lineup, it looks like your average point and shoot from the 90s, but it’s packing a few more options than the average like backlight compensation. Today we’re checking out the Canon Sure Shot Max. It’s a rather simple point and has a nice lens, and generally produces nice sharp results. The widest the lens goes is 3.5 which is slower than the original Sure Shot and Autoboy II, but this camera was a lot cheaper than both of those when they came out, and it still has great results. Today we are checking out the Canon PowerShot SD890 IS DIGITAL ELPH. It’s part of the well known PowerShot line, it’s pocketable, quick to shoot, and produces nice images. One of my favorite features is the built in viewfinder, because as someone who mostly shoots film, it’s my preferred way to compose. Today we are checking out the Olympus infinity Twin, also known as the AF-1 Twin. Its weather sealed like the rest of the Infinity and AF-1 line, but something unique to it is the Dual lens system it uses. Instead of adding another element into the lens formula to achieve the two focal lengths like most other dual lens cameras, it has two primes with individual shutters which are always firing at the same time. It determines which one exposes film by a flip down mirror inside the body, which drops down at the same time the viewfinder switches. Today we are checking out the Nikon CoolPix L820. It’s a bridge camera, bridging the gap between digicam point and shoots and DSLR’s. It has an insane range of focal lengths covered from a lens which equivalent to a 22.5-675mm zoom. Today we are checking out the Nikon CoolPix S200 which is part of the very long lineage of the Nikon CoolPix series. The S line was their stylish line as you can see with the brushed finish to the front. They’re very pocketable, pack a good zoom range, and a decently sharp lens. This is a pretty basic model in the series, although the face recognition which holds focus on someone’s face once recognized is a decently advanced feature for a digicam back then. Today we are checking out the Olympus Infinity, also known as the AF-1. Released in 1986, this is the world’s first fully weatherproof point and shoot, nicknamed “Nurepika” or “Nuretemo-Pikaso,” which translates to “Wet Flash.” It has a sharp 35mm 2.8 lens, an odd focus lock button used for presetting autofocus instead of the normal half press it adds another step, though you can just use the center focus point when firing if you don’t need to recompose. It’s boxy and a little less pocketable than the later Mju’s and Stylus cameras that followed, but it’s still a very solid point and shoot. #olympus #olympusinfinity #olympusaf1 #analog

Today we are checking out the Star Wars Episode1 Picture Plus Image Camera from Tiger Electronics. It’s more of a toy or collectible than a respectable 35mm camera, but the gimmick of being able to print 1 of 6 characters from the movie on your film is actually pretty fun. It doesn’t look exactly like the Electrobinoculars from the movie, but it does a good job of looking like a Star Wars prop and it carries the branding. Today we are checking out a stylish 35mm point and shoot wrapped in leather. It’s the Olympus LT-1, not to be confused with the Olympus LT Zoom 105, which was a later model released with the same leather covering. It’s an Olympus MJU in disguise, with the same lens, flash, and internal layout, but it was released a few years later. It’s a solid point and shoot, but because of its styling and Olympus name, the prices seem to have gone up quite a bit in the last few years. ##olympus #olympuslt1 #olympusmju #analog

This is the Leitz Summarex 8,5cm 1,5 in black paint. It is rare, one of 276 made in black paint, originally only available to German military, after the war available to the public. It was Leitz first coated lens, and also their first lens to have the international aperture markings. It is rare in comparison to the chrome version of which there was 4066 made. It’s a bit soft wide open, could be a bit softer because mine could use a cleaning, but as you stop down it gets very sharp, especially for a lens from the early 40’s. #leica #leitz #summarex #leitzsummarex #analog

Today we are checking out the Nikon Zoom Touch 500, a simple point and shoot with a solid lens and features you don’t always see on other point and shoots. It has a 35-80mm Macro zoom lens, continuous shooting, and step zoom shooting. Kowa has a reputation for producing great lenses over the years, and I personally am a huge fan of the 85mm 2.8 from the Kowa Six series. It’s a very modular camera and the super 66 solved the problem of the originals with a removable back, so they are able to be swapped mid roll.
