NBA CHAMP!!! From the first time we trained, KAT has always been locked all in. Before every season. Throughout COVID and this past October, we had a chance to sit and talk about this upcoming season and how good this team could be and how far they could go. Brother, you talked it into fruition. And we all know who you played this for. She has been with you every step of the way and is celebrating right there with you ā¤ļø Congratulations fam. Air Adjustment Color Reads: As soon as the player takes off, shout a color that matches a spot they need to aim for. This finishing drill is all about building the skill to adjust mid-air and get creative with finishing around the rim. #tiktokbasketballcampaign #Tatcha #hooplab #basketball #basketballworkouts #basketballworkout #hooper #hoopersoftiktok #hoopers

What if AAU was built backwards? What if we stopped building the entire year around tournaments and started building it around the player? Thatās what Chip on My Shoulder is about. I donāt care how many games a 12 year old can play in a year. I care about who that player becomes over that year. More skilled. More athletic. More confident. More knowledgeable. More prepared. Weāre going to give our players every opportunity to work. What they do with that opportunity is up to them. You donāt have to live in the lab. But if you want the lab, itās there. And when itās time to compete, weāll go find out what holds up when it matters. This is for the players who are hungry. The players who love being in the gym. The players who arenāt satisfied with where they are today. The players who feel like they still have something to prove. Comment āRUNSā if you want information on our FREE pre-tryout open runs. Comment āCHIPā if you want information on Chip on My Shoulder + tryouts. Iāll DM you the details. The chip gets you started. The work changes you. #hooplab #aaubasketball #chiponmyshoulder #newjerseybasketball #CityTasteTest

Thereās more detail to a straight pound than just dribbling the basketball hard. Dribble with your elbow, not just your forearm. A lot of players pound straight up and down with their forearm and let their elbow get underneath the ball. Now youāre losing power, range of movement and options. We want the elbow driving the action while the hand stays on top of the basketball. Thatās why weāre using the ZL MiniHandle here. The smaller surface area forces you to be precise with your hand placement and exposes the little details in your technique. Donāt just pound it hard. Pound it correctly. #hooplab #CityTasteTest #ballhandling #dribblingskills #basketballskills

New Jersey welcome - Chip on My Shoulder. Iāve been asked for years to start an AAU program. For years, I said no. Until now. This is going to be built differently. Development first. Competition with purpose. Skill development. Shooting. Team practices. Performance training. Meaningful competition. Year-round. Weāre starting with 6th Grade Boys + Girls. If you want more information, comment āCHIPā below and Iāll send you the details. And I want to know⦠Should we open this up to MORE GRADES? š If so, comment the grade + boys or girls below. WE WONāT CHASE GAMES. WE WILL BUILD PLAYERS. #hooplab #aaubasketball #newjerseybasketball #basketballtraining #basketballskills

THE WEIGHT EXPOSES THE DRIBBLE. ā«ļø You can get away with a lot of bad habits with a regular basketball. The Heavy MiniHandle doesnāt give you that same freedom. The added weight forces you to be more intentional with your technique and mechanics. You have to use your hand, elbow and forearm correctly, create force into the floor and most importantly, CONTROL where you place the dribble. Too far outside your frame? Youāll feel it. Wrong angle into the floor? Youāll feel it. Lazy hand placement? Youāll feel it. Poor timing between your hand, feet and body? Youāll feel that too. Thatās why I like the weight. It doesnāt magically give you a better handle. It gives you immediate feedback when your mechanics arenāt good enough to control it. Clean up the technique. Clean up the placement. Then add the speed. Comment āHeavyā for more information on the Heavy MiniHandle. #hooplab #ballhandling #basketballskills #basketballtraining #ballhandlingdrills

Two basketballs. Two completely different demands on each hand. The MiniHandle š“ challenges precision, touch and clean ball placement because thereās less surface area to control. Add the Heavy MiniHandle ā«ļø in the opposite hand and now the player has to manage a completely different feel and force without allowing it to change the timing or rhythm of the other hand. Thatās where this gets interesting. Each hand has its own responsibility but they still have to work together. Hand independence. Timing. Rhythm. Touch. Force control. Precision. Itās not just about keeping two basketballs bouncing. Itās about being able to control what each hand is doing independently without losing the overall pattern. Comment āMiniHandleā and Iāll send you the information on both. š“ā«ļø #hooplab #basketballtraining #dribblingskills #ballhandling #basketballskills

Heavy basketballs have been around forever. Most of the time you see them used for ball handling, building stronger hands, challenging control and making a regulation ball feel lighter. But we like using them for shooting too. šÆ The added weight changes everything. You canāt just push the ball up there. You have to create force from the ground, transfer that energy through your body and finish the shot with your hand. Weāll go back and forth between the ZL Menās Heavy Ball and the Womenās Shooting Ball so players can actually FEEL the difference. Heavy ball ā”ļø regulation ball. Same mechanics. Same intent. Different demand. When you go back to the regulation ball, it feels lighter coming off your hand and you can really feel the difference in how you generate power, control the ball and finish your release. Sometimes the best training tools arenāt about reinventing anything. Itās about finding another way to use them. š Comment āWeightedā and Iāll send more information to you! #hooplab #basketballtraining #basketballskills #shootingdrills #basketballshot

š Think about a QB throwing a perfect spiral. You can almost tell the second it leaves their hand that it was a clean throw. Now think about shooting a basketball. Same concept. A QB uses the rotation of the football as feedback on how cleanly it came off their hand. As a shooter, we can use the rotation of the basketball the exact same way. Thatās one of the biggest reasons I wanted the ZL Shooting Ball to have different colored panels. When that red and white ball starts rotating, you can actually SEE what happened at release. Clean backspin? Your hand was probably in a pretty good position behind the ball and it came off your fingers clean. Ball rotating sideways? Now we have something to look at. Is the guide hand getting involved? Is the thumb pushing? Is the ball coming off the side of the shooting hand? Are the fingers finishing through the ball consistently? The rotation becomes feedback. And hereās the important part⦠A quarterback CAN complete a pass with an ugly spiral. A basketball player CAN make a shot with ugly rotation. That doesnāt mean we ignore it. Because development isnāt about whether ONE shot went in. Itās about building a release you can repeat. Quarterbacks chase a tight, consistent spiral. Shooters should chase clean, consistent rotation. Sometimes the ball tells you what happened before the result does. šÆ #hooplab #basketballtraining #basketballskills #perfectspiral #shootingdrills

The ZL Heavy MiniHandle doesnāt let you get away with loose hands, lazy dribbles or bad placement. Youāve gotta be precise. Youāve gotta be aggressive. Youāve gotta control it. Then when you grab a regulation ball, everything just feels different. Faster hands. Tighter control. More confidence with the ball. Make the training harder so the game feels easier. šÆ Comment āHeavyā and Iāll DM you more information! #hooplab #basketballtraining #basketballskills #ballhandling #dribblingskills

The ZL Oversized Ball has become one of our most popular training tools for challenging precision, touch and accuracy on the shot. š SEE YOUR ROTATION The red + black panels give players instant visual feedback on how the ball leaves their hand. Clean rotation? Guide hand interference? Thumb involvement? Pinky causing the ball to curve? You can actually SEE the adjustment. š¤ CREATE HAND SEPARATION This is a BIG one, especially for younger players. The larger surface naturally widens the shooting hand from the guide hand, helping players learn to generate the shot with ONE hand instead of relying on a two hand push, thumb flick or thumb push. šÆ FIND YOUR HAND PLACEMENT The red center grooves give players a consistent reference point for their shooting hand. Pointer finger, middle finger or splitting the groove. Find what feels natural and repeatable for YOUR shot. š CHALLENGE PRECISION + TOUCH A bigger ball demands more precision and control through the shot. When you switch back to a regulation ball, youāve challenged those same mechanics under a more difficult constraint. The ZL Womenās Shooting Ball has made a HUGE impact for players who are building, adjusting or fine-tuning their shot. ā«ļøāŖļø Black + White panels make the rotation easy to see as soon as the ball leaves the hand. You can quickly tell if thereās unwanted guide-hand interference, thumb involvement or the ball is coming off the pinky side. š“ Red center grooves give players a consistent reference point for hand placement. Pointer finger in the groove, middle finger in the groove or splitting it. The goal is finding what feels comfortable and repeatable for your shot. Itās not about forcing everyone to shoot the same way. Itās about giving players better feedback so they can understand how the ball is actually leaving their hands. ZL Oversized ball ā”ļø Regular ball. Alternating every other shot. Then @treypatt3 did this⦠10 STRAIGHT makes with the regular ball. šÆ The goal isnāt to make the regular ball feel easier. The ZL Oversized ball challenges your hand placement, control, touch and precision that gives you less room for error. Then when the regular ball comes back⦠everything has to be that much more precise. šÆ #hooplab #shootingdrill #shootingdrills #basketballshot #basketballtraining

The ZL Menās Shooting Ball has been such a huge impact on players critiquing or building their shot with the color panels for a better visual aid on their rotation and the center grooves down the center of the ball for their hand placement. Most players grab a regular basketball and start shooting. I donāt. The ZL Oversized Ball has become one of my favorite tools because it exposes the little things a game ball lets you get away with. If you can make this feel easy⦠A regulation basketball starts feeling really small. Every rep has a purpose. Every miss tells you something. Thatās why this ball stays in my training rotation. š Comment āOVERSIZEDā below and Iāll send you the link automatically. š© #hooplab #ballhandlingdrills #oversizedball #zlshootingball #shootingdrills

One of my favorite shooting drills to do with players to test their shot off the dribble! 2 š alternating with the ZL Heavy MiniHandle Every dribble syncs to the opposite foot. The Heavy MiniHandle doesnāt get shot, it gets picked up so the off hand stays loaded through the gather. The weight and size of the ball will cause a delay on that one side so the timing has to stay perfect on the other. Start with the Heavy MiniHandle on the inside hand and finish the regular ball with the outside hand then flip it, Heavy MiniHandle on the outside hand and regular ball finish with the inside hand. The weight and size leave no room for bad timing. The Official Hoop Lab ZL Menās and Womenās Shooting Basketball is HERE!! ā Patented center grooves running down the entire ball lock in your hand placement ā Dual-color (Red/White - Menās) (Black/White - Womenās) design exposes your shot rotation instantly Most players donāt actually know why they miss. Itās hard to consistently find the right hand positioning and at times even harder to see true end-over-end rotation on a regular basketball. This changes that. Every rep gives you real feel. Every rep gives you real feedback. Every rep makes you better. No guessing. No wasted shots. Just repeatable, game-ready shooting. This isnāt just a basketball. This is a tool that holds you accountable. If it spins clean⦠it goes in. š Want one? Comment āShotā and Iāll shoot over the preorder link.

šÆ 7-foot sniper. History made. We stretch that range every time in the lab focusing on distance, control, soft touch and the ability to maintain the same mechanics all the way throughout and it just keeps getting easier for him! The midrange is a weapon most players never sharpen because they either never were taught it or told never to shoot it. Either way, develop it anyway. This drill exaggerates hang time and patience so youāre forced to lock in on that control! The same control you need on a normal pull up. Hereās Dez working the athletic side of a true jump shot, catching his peak before the release. Build your midrange! #hooplab #shootingdrill #midrange #fy #basketballworkout
