Honestly, this was so much fun and I loved every part of it. All that mattered was spending time with our friends and having a blast, and it turned out way better than I thought!  I was pretty nervous booking a venue, getting supplies, event planning, and grabbing miscellaneous things, but having such amazing friends made it so much easier. This wasn’t just about a race, it was about who I became during all the training. Walking into this, I had no idea how any of it worked, but I’m so glad I just showed up. The energy was honestly a once in a lifetime experience. Running through a beautiful city to the sound of airhorns and bells, meeting amazing people from all over the world, and just taking in the peace of it all. Seeing families cheer, partners running together, and siblings celebrating at the finish line was the most wholesome thing I’ve ever experienced. Most importantly, it revealed who my biggest supporters are. To my friends who checked in and gifted me the gear and supplies to show how much they want me to do well, and my family who showed up to cheer and celebrate after- thank you. Finishing my first half marathon opened my eyes, and I’m glad I came back and committed to the full distance. Balancing life, lifting, building my own training blocks, and sticking to the preparation was honestly the best part. By race day the hard work was already done, and I got to truly enjoy every single kilometer. Seeing other runners and their causes, families, friends, and the entire community show up reminded me how special this city really is. Hearing this song come on mid-race set it all in.
