I don’t have to do my hair BEFORE paying somebody else to do it. I can often walk in for a simple wash and blowout, and when I book an appointment, they actually honor my appointment time and get me IN AND OUT. No wetting my head and four other people’s heads, sticking us all under the dryer, and making us wait 40 days and 40 nights for our 9 AM appointments. 😭 In 2020, I walked in for a big chop while dealing with alopecia areata. A Black stylist happened to be available, gave me this gorgeous inverted bob, and she’s been doing my hair and my daughter’s ever since. Love her! 💕 Now, please don’t go booking up all the appointments and running up the prices. First, the atmosphere? Loved it. Moody, relaxed, and not overcrowded. The kind of place where you can actually enjoy your dinner and conversation.
The service was top tier—or at least MY server was. 
Now, let’s talk food. The steak was tender, well-seasoned, and absolutely worth ordering again.
But those Parker House Rolls?! BABY. I’d fight my Mama for those rolls. 🤣🤣 And I love my Mama, so understand how serious that statement is.
Overall: 9/10. Great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food, and rolls worth risking a family relationship over.

I spent way too long looking for birthday nail inspo and rejected basically everything. 😂 So naturally, I went to my appointment with no plan and ended up choosing something I hadn’t considered at all: copper cat-eye with chrome. And THIS is why I can never pick my nails ahead of time. 😭 In person they look like molten metal—the copper shifts and glows when my hands move, and the chrome gives them this almost liquid finish. They were ridiculously hard to photograph because my camera kept flattening the effect and making them look ashy, but changing the camera settings finally helped. Are these what I thought my birthday nails would be? Absolutely not. Do I like them? Yep. Will I learn from this and stop spending hours looking for nail inspo before appointments? The pepper jack boudin balls were supposed to make the photo shoot, but unfortunately they were too busy being delicious. 😂 I honestly could’ve ordered two servings and called it a day. For breakfast I had eggs, bacon, a biscuit and cheese grits, plus an iced turtle latte. The corn grits were good—just not really my thing—but everything else was delicious, filling, and absolutely worth another visit. 10/10 would recommend. Lunch at 5 Mile Eatery 🍔☕️ Finally tried 5 Mile Eatery in Lafayette this week. It was packed at lunch, but the staff was notably friendly—which I always appreciate when a place is that busy. I had the Co-op Burger with pepper jack + bacon and a side of grits. Don’t judge me, judge ya mama! 😂 The burger was good, the grits were just meh, and at $18 before my add-ons…this is definitely not a cheap lunch. Meanwhile, my coworkers ordered much more photogenic food than I did 😂 — the Wild Mushroom Toast was literally smiling for its picture 😏 and the Pad Thai Salad with chicken looked ridiculously fresh.
