Next time you’re in Shakespeare Garden, look closer at the fences! Every single one, branch by branch, was handcrafted. 🌿 Howard Peller (aka H.P., aka “Willow Fellow”) is a farmer and artist who hand-weaves living structures from willow branches. This ancient craft known as wattle weaving has been used for thousands of years to build everything from houses to baskets. In Shakespeare Garden, these natural fences protect delicate plantings while supporting the local ecosystem, and add a little hand-made charm to the idyllic space. Head to Shakespeare Garden and see them for yourself! 🌸 💚

🚨 Central Park Bloom Alert! 🚨 Asters are flowering all around Central Park! There are over 100 species of Asteraceae growing in the Park, and this is a great time of year to appreciate them. Blooming in shades of purple, yellow, and white, these flowers brighten the Park’s meadows and woodlands. And we don’t just love them for their looks: the flowers and seeds are an important late-season resource for local insects and winter birds like chickadees and nuthatches. 🌼 #CentralParkConservancy Natural Areas Manager Eric says: “We rely heavily on asters in our urban ecosystems because of how hardy, tolerant, spontaneous, and beneficial they are. Love ‘em!” #CentralPark #BloomAlert #NativePlants

Have you heard the news? Central Park’s water lilies are in bloom! 🪷 These flowers are perhaps best known for inspiring many paintings by Monet. Here in Central Park, they bloom in a small pool in the English-style section of Conservatory Garden every summer. Shout out to #CentralParkConservancy Ranger Jack for sharing a few snaps! When you visit, please be respectful of this quiet space: never pick or pull at flowers, keep dogs on leash, and walk bikes and scooters. #CentralPark #BloomAlert #NYC #GardenTok
