I Get Around - The Beach Boys Harmony Build An oldie, but a goodie. This is such a catchy pop song but so deceptive in its complexity. 1 - M6 - m2 - flat7 - 5 is not a progression we hear much in pop music anymore and then to modulate from the M6 up a whole step is genius. Also, these harmonies…

If I Fell - The Beatles Harmony Build Happy Fall ya’ll! Here’s a lovely Beatles tune. It’s only two parts but these are such good parts. I love all of the sixth’s. Mic: WA47 Audio interface: Apollo Twin DAW: Logic Pro X #howto #harmony #thebeatles @Warm Audio @The Beatles

California Girls - The Beach Boys Harmony Build This is one of those sneaky songs that sound so simple on casual listens but when you dig into it, it’s deep and rich. This chorus will never not be a summer anthem. Brian left his indelible thumb print all over the season, and I’m honestly really…

Help Me Rhonda - The Beach Boys- Harmony Build It was a a rarity in this era, but Al Jardine sang the lead vocal on this song and blew the roof off it. The vocal parts are so well written in this tune. It reminds me of barbershop…almost a moment out of The Music Man, with those various rhythmic…

Disney Girls - The Beach Boys song- Harmony Build We’re on a Bruce trip right now I guess. If you’ve never heard this song, please go listen. It’s nostalgic. It’s warm. It’s buttery goodness that keeps getting better each listen. It’s the musical equivalent of a love sick sigh. Plus those chord…

Take A Chance On Me - ABBA Harmony Build ABBA might be the worlds greatest pop band. They just don’t miss and these harmonies are so fun. I sometimes envy female singers for their range. I tried my best. Also, bass is not necessarily my forte so be kind to me. I had to Melodyne a couple of the low…

California Dreamin’ The Mamas & The Papas Harmony Build John and Michelle Phillips originally wrote this song for Barry McGuire to sing. The Wrecking Crew performed the instrumental and the Mamas & The Papas sang the background vocals. Later, the record company decided to release a version for the…

California Dreamin’ - The Beach Boys Harmony Build In 1986, The Beach Boys released this cover of John and Michelle Phillips classic song, made famous by their version with The Mama’s & The Papas, which is such a funny name for a band. While the boys version of this only reached number 57 on the…

White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes Harmony Build I’m back! It’s been a long minute since I’ve been in my studio. I’ve done a few of these from the road, but it’s a lot harder with setting up and tearing down equipment and also not scaring the crap out of my hotel neighbors. Anyway, as you all have…

Wouldn’t It Be Nice - The Beach Boys Harmony Build Today is exactly one year to the date that the world lost Brian Wilson. I never got a chance to meet him, but he has changed my life nonetheless. Hoping to honor his legacy and music in a small way with this one. I already did the slowed down…

Forever - The Beach Boys Harmony Build The effortlessly stylish Dennis Wilson and Greg Jakobson wrote this one (with Brian arranging) for the BB’s album “Sunflower”, which behind Pet Sounds, is my favorite of their albums. You all probably know it more famously as Jesse and the Rippers hit song…

Mother & Child Reunion - Paul Simon Harmony Build Whichever came first, the chicken and egg will meet again. I love happy songs with sad lyrics. It feels so very human. Cissy Houston, Von Eva Sims, Renelle Stafford & Deirdre Tuck provided the beautiful backing vocals on this tune. I did my best…

Turn, Turn, Turn - The Byrds Harmony Build I always thought there were more harmonies in this song but there’s quite a bit of unison singing. This shows how effective a well placed vocal stack is. In at the exact right moments. I’ll definitely be doing more of The Byrds, especially some off of…

Ohio - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Harmony Build You guys have asked for more CSNY so here ya go. One of the greatest protest songs of all time. I love how they just go full bore on this song. There are no dynamics or subtleties…it’s practically shouting….and man, Nash could sing high! Mic: Warm…

Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys Harmony Build I HAVE TO!! Ok, I actually love this little ditty, especially all those passing tones and that high part that sings “ahhh, Merry Christmas St. Nick”. Mic: WA47 Audio Interface: Apollo Twin DAW: Logic Pro X #howto #harmony #thebeachboys #beachboys…

It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Andy Williams It truly is. I’m kicking off the holidays with a harmony build of this iconic Christmas classic. Now through the end of the season, I’ll be doing Holiday songs only. I’ve got a list but if you have any suggestions, I’m all ears! Yes, Little…

No joke, I get to perform with @thebeachboys !!! A million thank you’s to @johnstamos and @brianeichenberger for making this happen. I’m so pumped to share the stage with you both. Thanks to @christianloveofficial for having me fill in for ya. Thanks to everyone who has followed, watched…

This Boy - The Beatles Harmony Build A lot of you have asked for this song so here it is! It’s a pretty standard harmony stack with the root with a 1-3-5 pattern, but it’s cool because when you add the bass guitar in, they’re really singing the M3rd, 5th and M7th of the chord. Also, how weird does…

Close To You - The Carpenters Harmony Build Just like me, they long to be… Karen Carpenters voice was pure, warm sunshine, which is why I wore a yellow sweater. The blend of her and Richard together was incredible too. Again, with those blood harmonies. Mic: WA47 Interface: Apollo Twin DAW: Logic…

God Only Knows - The Beach Boys Harmony Build From what I’ve read (and I may be wrong), but Brian and Carl sang the bridge, with Brian doing an impersonation of Mike for the “ba ba ba” parts. Whoever sang it, this is one of the most beautiful moments in pop music ever. Fight me. 😆 Mic: WA47…

Wouldn’t It Be Nice - The Beach Boys Harmony Build I’ve sung this song soooo many times now, and still that minor six to Major flat seven chord shift gets me. What an amazingly simple/complex pop song. Performed live in my studio. Sung into a WA47 mic, into an Apollo Twin into Logic Pro X…

Knights Of The Round Table - Harmony Build Performed live in my studio. Monty Python and The Holy Grail changed my life. I discovered it at a formational time (9th grade) and it showed me how being ridiculously yourself was ok. I still laugh at this movie and can’t wait to show my kids. Vocals…

Good Vibrations - Harmony Build Performed live in my studio Obviously this isn’t EVERY part. There are two stacks of overlapping triads but for time purposes, I consolidated them into one. What a wild song, eh? Vocals tracked through a Warm WA47 into an Apollo Twin using the 610B preamp into a…

Sun King - Harmony Build Performed live in my studio. This is what I was able to pick out by ear. I think I’ve got who is singing what right, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. I know you will. 🤪 Also, for those interested, for fun I put a rotary speaker plugin after my reverb to emulate…

Sloop John B - Harmony Build Performed live in my studio This one took me a while, from figuring out parts, to rehearsing it and then finally getting it right on camera. Brian was a master at arranging parts. You all know that. Hope you enjoy! Oh, for those of you wondering…WA47 mic, Universal…

One of my favorite songs EVER… “Have You Seen Her” By The Chi-Lites Performed live in my studio *the ending harmony stack was pre-tracked so the video wouldn’t get way too long but everything else (first harmony stack and lead) were live. Not sure I got the parts exactly right. #howto #stack…
