17 pounds of rust was removed film this 2006 Ford E350. Before we could protect it, we had to remove all the salt and ice underneath with a steam cleaning + salt/brine wash. Then, we needed to remove all that rust scale by mechanically needle scaling it down to surface rust. After descaling, we rustproofed internal cavities with Fluid Film and undercoated the chassis with Woolwax — lanolin-based protection that stays active, displaces moisture, and protects even when surface rust is present. Fluid Film for migration + Woolwax for durability = a taco protected against rust. 🌮 This 2017 Toyota Tacoma came in covered in snow, ice, and road salt, so proper prep came first. We started with a full steam clean to expose clean metal before any protection was applied. We then rustproofed all internal cavities and enclosed areas with Fluid Film. Its thinner consistency allows it to migrate deep into seams and folds, protecting areas traditional coatings can’t reach. The underbody, frame, axles, and suspension components were finished with Woolwax.
