We had zero prior experience in welding or metalwork when we embarked on this journey. Did you do the roof raise yourself? Question from: @mysticalmoth9 To get a grasp of the basics, we enrolled in a short welding class at MakeIt Labs in Vancouver back in 2019, and from there, we dived headfirst into the project! However, it’s important to acknowledge that we made plenty of mistakes and had our fair share of major setbacks, often resulting in a considerable waste of time, money, and materials. But looking back, neither of us would trade those experiences for anything, as they taught us valuable lessons not only about construction but also about ourselves. From the start of the project, to when we were finished, the roof-raise which included gutting the interior, cutting and welding in new supports, and applying fresh sheet metal. At the beginning of March, we were lucky to be able to have some family fly out and come visit us for a week! They lodge organized and ordered some fresh produce for us, which we hadn’t had since October. So it was a real treat to have lettuce and tomato’s + fresh eggs and yogurt. Currently we are getting closer to the 7 1/2 months living remote here and our contract is almost done!
