I might upset some people but anyone who says content creation is easy is LYING to you 😭 It’s not just ‘silly videos’ that take 30 seconds to make. Sometimes it’s late nights, bad days, panic attacks, payments being 2 months late…🫩 Don’t get me wrong ☝🏼 the money is great and it’s an incredible job to have and feel extremely blessed that I get to be my own boss and chase my dreams instead of making someone else rich 🙄, but I do feel compelled to share the real side of this career too. If you’re doing this alongside your 9-5, I’m truly rooting for you. I did it for a year and it was possibly the most challenging (yet rewarding) year of my life. A good UGC video / brand deal can take 4/5 hours from start to finish (from the first email exchange, to scripting, filming, editing and submitting the final piece), it’s not as quick or glamorous as it looks from the outside 🙌🏼 All those incredible, talented, aesthetic creators you see? They put HOURS into their content - whether that’s for their own socials or for brands. And sometimes, life gets in the way so you end up having to finish your to do list at 3AM so you can share the content in time with the client. All this considered, I still wouldn’t change a thing. I’m grateful for where I am now and will keep pushing to get better and better every day. So if you have a friend that does content creation, don’t make fun of them 🫵🏼 Don’t make them think of themselves as less than you just because they don’t have a ‘serious’ job. They work a lot too 🫶🏼
