Nobody talks enough about the drive home. The guilt. The anger. The questions you can’t answer. The thoughts you feel terrible for even having. And somewhere in between all of it, you’re wondering what to make for supper. Some visits are good. Some are hard. But the drive home always seems to bring a million different emotions. I know how lucky I am that I can still visit my dad, hug him, and hear his voice. But I also know what it’s like to miss someone who’s still right in front of you. I’m sharing this because I know I’m not the only one who has these thoughts. We just don’t always feel comfortable saying them out loud.
