Earlier this year, Animal Care Specialist @Anton Morrison treated out Asian small-clawed otters to a simulated rainstorm. Immersive enrichment experiences like this are one of the many ways our animal care specialists ensure our animals are happy and thriving! We applaud these experts for their creativity, dedication and passion for the animals in their care! 🦦🪱⛈️ #denverzoo #animalcarespecialist #animalcare #animalwellness #enrichment #immersiveexperience #otters #ottersoftiktok #asiansmallclawedotter

Rambutan is growing right before our eyes. Animal Care Specialists report he’s been looking around and becoming more aware of his surroundings lately. Hesty and baby have been spending a lot of time outside, climbing high into the trees and taking in the view from up high. Stay tuned for updates of this growing family! CeCe, our official 130th Anniversary Celebration Captain is teaming up with our Animal Ambassadors, Azul the blue and yellow macaw and Sloan the sloth, to brainstorm how to make this celebration funner than fun. The result: wild surprises around every corner, all summer long. Because 130 years of impact deserves a proper party. Come see what they're cooking up! https://denverzoo.org/events/summer/

Our alpaca boys, Bruno and Gustavo (Gus) are cooling off in the splash pad. These two adorable boys came to the Zoo earlier this year but have recently been named by their Animal Care team. With the Colorado heat, we keep our herd comfortable with plenty of shade, water, and enrichment. The boys have since been sheared for summer, so don't be surprised if they look a little different (and a lot cooler) when you see them. Come say hi to Bruno and Gus on your next visit! We are heartbroken to share that Rudy, our beloved 32-year-old black rhino, was humanely euthanized on May 26. Thank you to everyone who played a role in Rudy’s care and wellbeing throughout his life, especially to the teams who supported him through his final chapter with extraordinary love. Rudy shaped our community in immeasurable ways and our campus will not feel the same without his calm, steady presence. 🩶🦏🍉
