Every “quick little project” somehow turns into a full day, multiple trips to Lowe’s, and money I wasn't planning on spending. 😂 But hey, at least it looks good when it's done. Who else knows this struggle? 😂

Can you remodel a 1970s bathroom for $2,000? 🛠️ We started with blue tile, an outdated vanity, and a bathroom that needed some serious help. I used an AI image for inspiration and tried to recreate the look without tearing the whole bathroom apart. I refinished the existing tile, updated the fixtures, painted the shower doors and hardware, added a new floor, and replaced the vanity. The final cost? $2,220. That’s $220 over budget. 😂 Not everything matched the inspiration photo, but for a DIY bathroom makeover on a budget, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Want to recreate this bathroom? I put together a storefront in my Linktree with everything I used. Link in bio! Would you spend the extra $220, or would you have found a way to stay under $2,000? #BathroomMakeover #DIYBathroomRemodel #BudgetBathroom #DIYHomeImprovement #BathroomRenovation

Changing a light fixture is one of those DIY projects that looks more complicated than it actually is. The basic process is pretty much the same whether you’re replacing a bathroom vanity light, a ceiling boob light, or an outdoor light fixture. Turn the power off, remove the old fixture, connect the wiring, mount the new fixture, and turn the power back on. The exact mounting and wiring can vary, so always follow the instructions that come with your fixture. If you’ve been putting off changing an outdated light, this is a pretty beginner-friendly place to start. Also, go check out my brother-in-law and his contracting business: @shimp_home_improvements on Instagram. Changing a shower head and shower arm is one of those bathroom DIY projects that looks more complicated than it actually is. I replaced the shower head, shower arm, and handles and walked through the basic process so you can see what’s involved before tackling it yourself. You don’t need to completely remodel a bathroom to make a noticeable update. Sometimes replacing a few fixtures is enough to change the whole look. Save this for your next bathroom DIY project. #DIY #BathroomDIY #ShowerHead #HomeImprovement #DIYHome

Three coats later and this shower refinishing project is finally starting to look like a new shower. 👀 The process wasn’t terrible, but it definitely took longer than I wantes. Now the big question is how well this DIY shower refinishing job is going to hold up. I’m giving it the full cure time before putting the shower doors back together, and I’ll be keeping an eye on how the finish holds up. I’m also refinishing the shower floor separately and adding a texture additive for extra grip and an anti-slip surface. The rest of the bathroom is gonna have to wait until after my work week is finished. That’s the price of DIY... I still have to go to my real job. 😂 Would you refinish an old shower like this or replace it completely? #ShowerRefinishing #DIYBathroom #BathroomMakeover #ShowerMakeover #DIYHomeImprovement

Wondering how to replace a 3-way light switch when your electrical box has an old-school switch loop? ⚡️ In a switch loop wiring setup, standard wire color rules don't always apply. That white wire isn't a neutral, it’s actually carrying live current. The key to DIY light switch replacements are remembering that you aren't rewiring the whole circuit. You're simply moving wires over from the old switch to the exact same terminals on the new one. Pro Tip for Electrical DIY: Take clear photos of your original wiring setup before taking anything apart. Save this post for your next DIY home electrical project, and let me know in the comments if you've run into unexpected switch loop wiring in your home! 🛠️ #3WaySwitch #LightSwitchReplacement #SwitchLoop #DIYElectrical #diy

Stop throwing away your offcuts 👀 These little pumpkins are made from scrap 2x4s that would probably end up in the trash anyway. Three blocks, a leftover piece of 1x2, a little torching, and some spray paint. You don't need expensive materials or a complicated woodworking project to make something worth selling. I'd probably sell these for around $20 a set, and once you get a rhythm going, you can knock a set out in about 15 minutes. If you're looking for scrap wood projects, easy woodworking projects, or DIY projects to sell, this is a pretty simple one to add to the list. And yes… I'm making more projects with the rest of these scraps. Like this for Part 2 and follow so you don't miss it. 🎃 #DIYWoodworking #ScrapWoodProjects #WoodworkingProjects #2x4Projects #DIYPumpkins

I now have just over 10.5K followers across all platforms. Honestly, I’m just excited to see where this goes. I’m still figuring out this whole content creation thing, and I know I’ve got a lot to learn. But I’m having a hell of a lot of fun doing it, not only is it awkward to film and edit, but it's honestly hilarious because I'm a sucker for cringe. One thing I’ve realized is that I’m tired of watching DIY creators who have gotten to the point where every project is basically, “Here’s the $8,000 solution.” 😂 I want to be rich too… mostly so I can afford all the projects I want to do. 😂 Until then, I’m just going to keep figuring things out, making mistakes, building things, and hopefully making some useful content along the way. Thanks to everyone who’s been here for the ride. 10.5K is way more people than I ever expected to have following along. I’m excited for what comes next. Side note: I'm still trying to catch my TikTok up to my Instagram.

IKEA kitchen island — Part 2 ⚒️ I wanted a large kitchen island without spending thousands on a custom build, so I used IKEA SEKTION cabinets and built the rest around them. Here's what I used: 🧰 Materials • 3 IKEA SEKTION base cabinet frames • ENKÖPING cabinet fronts • MAXIMERA drawers • UTRUSTA hardware • 2 - 2x4s for the custom base frame • Butcher block countertop • Fasteners/hardware for securing the cabinets and countertop The cabinets sit on a simple 2x4 base frame that runs the length of the island, with additional supports positioned under the three individual cabinets. The butcher block was a Facebook Marketplace find, and I drove about 2 hours to Amish country to pick it up from @thebutcherblockconnection 💰 Total: Around $1,200 The one thing I'd change? I would have gone with a larger countertop for a little more overhang and more comfortable bar seating. $1,200 for this island. Worth it, or would you just buy one? 👇 Save this if you're thinking about building your own IKEA kitchen island. #ikeahack #diyfurniture #kitchenupgrade #diy #homeimprovement

I wanted a custom kitchen island... but I didn't want the custom price tag. So I turned this into an IKEA hack and built the island I pictured without spending thousands. The best part? This wasn't some professional kitchen remodel — just a DIY project, some creativity, and a little patience. Part 2 is coming where I break down the IKEA cabinets, materials, cost, and how I built it. It’s kind of crazy how easy it is to get caught up in the shuffle of everyday life. Work. Chores. The kids. Dinner. Cleaning the house just for it to be a mess again five minutes later. Some days feel so long. And then you blink… …and somehow a whole year is gone. It feels like yesterday I was learning how to change my first diaper. Now my son is starting first grade. I’m not really sure where the time went. I've been thinking about that a lot lately. How we spend so much time wishing for the next stage. Wishing they would sleep through the night. Be a little more independent. Make a little less of a mess. And then one day… they don't need you quite as much anymore. I know there will come a day when I would give anything to hear little footsteps running through the house again. To find toys all over the floor. To hear, “Dad!” a million times with no breath in between. That's why I'm trying to slow down and take it all in. Because someday, I'll miss the chaos. The mess. These exhausting, ordinary days. And I don't want to be so busy trying to get through to tomorrow, that I end up missing today. To all the parents in the middle of it with me… I see you. I'm here too. And to the parents who already made it through this chapter missing it like I will… I see you too. I hope we're all taking it in. Because one day, these will be the days we wish we could have back.

A slow shower drain doesn't always mean you need a plumber... and it definitely doesn't always mean you need to reach for Drano/Liquid Plumber. Most shower clogs are just hair and soap buildup. Spend 2 minutes every other month removing the hair before it becomes a full clog, and you'll save yourself time, money, and frustration. In this reel, I also show a simple experiment to demonstrate how sustained heat can affect PVC. It's something to keep in mind before choosing a chemical drain cleaner. And for you nerds out there, I used DWV PVC for accuracy. Don't come for me. 😂 💬 Do you snake your shower drain regularly, or do you usually wait until it's completely clogged? 💾 Save this reel for the next time your shower starts draining slowly. #diy #plumbing #homeimprovement #beginnerdiy #homerepair

🚨 Jammed garbage disposal? Don’t call a plumber just yet. Before you start sticking your hand down there or reaching for the wrench, there’s a safe and simple way to get that disposal moving again. In this video, I’ll show you how to free a jammed garbage disposal and get it working again. 🔧 ⚠️ IMPORTANT: Turn OFF the power before working on it. Never put your hand inside the disposal. Unless you don’t want to keep all your digits. 😂 Save this for the next time your disposal decides to quit on you. 👇 #DIY #HomeownerTips #GarbageDisposal #HomeMaintenance #DIYHome
