Mixing metals and wood stains doesn't have to feel like a gamble! When done intentionally, combining different tones brings depth, texture, and a custom curated look to your home. Here is our cheat sheet for getting it right every time: 🛑 DON’T: Match every wood piece perfectly—it makes the space look flat. Mix metals that are too similar (like chrome and polished nickel). Combine cold gray-washed woods with harsh chrome. ✅ DO: Pick a dominant anchor wood tone and contrast it with a secondary wood that shares the same undertone (warm vs. cool). Stick to the 70/30 rule for metals: 70% dominant hardware/lighting finish, 30% accent finish for plumbing or secondary accents.
