It's Fairtrade Fortnight 🎉 And this year, we're talking about Fair Pay 💰Because however we earn a living, we all deserve to be paid fairly. Yet millions of the people growing the food and drink we rely on every day still don't earn enough to support their families, invest in their futures, or build resilience to challenges like the climate crisis. That's not because they don't work hard. It's because too many of today's trade systems still leave farmers and workers with less than what it takes to produce the products we love. So, this Fairtrade Fortnight, we're shining a spotlight on the people behind the products we love and asking shoppers, businesses and decision-makers to help build a future that's fairer for people and planet. Because fair pay matters, whoever you are and whatever you do. ✊ Do It Fair. 🛒 Choose Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and beyond 📍 Join events happening across the UK and be part of the movement for fairer trade 📢 Demand business that's fair to people and planet ✍️ Sign our petition calling for a fair deal for the farmers and workers behind our everyday essentials Together, we can help create a world where the people behind the products we love have the chance to earn a decent living and build a better future. 🔗 Link in bio #FairtradeFortnight #DoItFair #FairPay #Fairtrade #TradeJustice

Tragic disasters like this are becoming increasingly common. And it’s due to climate change. That’s why we need our government to take urgent action to protect our planet and people. Our thoughts are with all the people and communities affected by this recent disaster on the Nepal-Tibet border ❤️🩹 #Nepal #NepalFloods #NepalEmergency #climatecrisis #climatechange

"What a way to make a livin’!” 🎶 Rest in peace Dolly Parton, one of the greatest to ever do it 💔 Working 9 to 5 is hard enough but being recognised and paid fairly for that work shouldn't be. The dream isn't just making a living. It's being valued for the work you do. #Fairtrade #FairPay #dollyparton

Your morning brew might taste very different in the future. It sounds crazy, but climate change is already making it harder for farmers to grow tea, coffee and cocoa. In the UK, we’ve seen recent heatwaves, wildfire and droughts which are putting pressure on our food systems, here and around the world 🌡️🔥🌍 We need political leaders to step up. That's why we're calling on Andy Burnham to take action on climate and support the people growing the food and drinks we rely on everyday. Sign our petition and, like @Big Zuu says, buy Fairtrade to support farmers with tackling the impacts of climate change ✊ 🔗 Link in bio #FairOnThePlanet #Fairtrade #ClimateChange #Coffee #Tea

This isn't about "The Commonwealth". It's about "common" wealth and how it's shared 👀 The modern Commonwealth has its roots in the former British Empire that built enormous wealth through the extraction of resources, labour and land from colonised countries. That history leaves an uncomfortable question: If the wealth wasn't common, why call it "Commonwealth"? Today, many farmers in former Commonwealth countries still aren't paid fairly while global supply chains generate billions. The Empire is gone. The imbalance isn't. #Commonwealth #colonialism #Fairtrade #tradejustice #decolonize

@The Jack & Ash Show @jackandaskpodcast asking the important questions: are we heading for a bananapocalypse? 🍌 There are over 1,000 varieties of banana worldwide, but most of us only eat one: the Cavendish. Now, climate change, extreme weather and a deadly soil fungus are putting the future of the world's favourite fruit at risk. Bananas are the world's most consumed fruit and the fourth most important food crop globally. Yet experts warn that suitable banana-growing land in Latin America and the Caribbean could shrink by 60% by 2080. For banana farmers like Yon in Colombia, the crisis is already here. Rising temperatures, pests and disease are damaging crops, making it harder to support their families and threatening the future of banana farming. That's why Fairtrade is working with banana producers to adapt to climate change, protect livelihoods and help secure the future of the fruit we all love. 🍌 Choose a fair bunch. Every banana sold at @Co-op @Sainsbury’s and @Waitrose & Partners is Fairtrade. #fyp #podcast #clip #news #comedy

It’s “too hot” in the UK for a few days 🌡️ But for the people growing and picking our food, extreme weather conditions been their everyday reality for a long time. This isn’t just a heatwave, it’s a warning. ⚠️ And it’s not new. Workers in the Global South who did the least to cause climate change have already been facing the worst impacts of it for years. 🤔 So next time you say “it’s unbearable” ask yourself: unbearable for who? ❗️It's time big businesses are held to account for the damage they are doing to the environment! ✍️Sign our petition - link in bio #Heatwave#ClimateChange #ukheatwave #fyp #weather

This heatwave is a warning but for farmers it has already been a reality for years 🌡️ As the climate crisis is accelerating, many businesses are still failing to take responsibility and passing the cost onto farmers. It can’t be up to farmers to fix a crisis that they didn’t cause 😡 Sign our petition demanding that businesses have to build fairer and more sustainable supply chains and protect the people growing our food. #ukheatwave #Heatwave #ClimateChange #fyp #news

This week, we had a powerful and engaging Live conversation with Kenyan coffee farmer Naftaly Kinyua Wachira, Fairtrade campaigner Giorgia Dal Fabbro, Ben and Ciara from @Going Green Media and Fairtrade’s climate expert CJ Stanton, bringing the climate reality behind your morning brew to life ☕️ One thing is clear, farmers are adapting but they can’t and shouldn’t have to do it alone. Right now, less than 1% of climate finance reaches them, leaving the cost of the climate crisis on their shoulders. That’s why we’re calling for a law that holds businesses responsible for any environmental and human rights harms in their supply chains So sign our petition ✍️ 🔗 Link in our bio #lcaw2026 #lcaw #climatechange #climatecrisis #fyp 📌 Colab with Going Green Media 📌 LCAW insta is ldnclimateweek; FB and LinkedIn is London Climate Action Week; X is london_climate

The game is on. ⚽🌍 FIFA is helping football adapt to a changing climate. Players are being given water breaks and work-rest schedules. But what about the people around the world who grow our food? Why are they valued so much less? They are working through extreme heat, watching seasons become less predictable, and seeing harvests fail. They are being left to carry the risks of the climate crisis, while the businesses that profit from their work still aren’t doing enough to protect them. Profits are being protected, whilst the people behind our food and drink are being left exposed. We don’t think that’s fair. The UK Government promised new laws to hold companies accountable for their impact on people and planet. But they have failed to deliver them. Farmers are still waiting. Nearly 100,000 of you have already signed our petition demanding all businesses are fair to people and planet. Please tag @Peter Kyle (Secretary for Business and Trade) in the caption and ask him to deliver against his promise to help protect people and planet. #FairOnThePlanet #DoItFair

Child labour is still behind the products we buy every day 😡 Not because families want their children to work - but because the system leaves them no choice. As cocoa farmer Dora Atiiga says: “Unstable incomes force farmers to rely on their children because they have no other option.” When farmers aren’t paid enough to live on, families face impossible choices and children are pulled out of school and into work. This is what an unfair system looks like ⚖️ ✍️ This World Day Against Child Labour, sign our petition to hold businesses accountable for people and planet. The people behind our food deserve fair pay - and every child deserves a childhood. #Fairtrade #childlabour #fairtopeople #worlddayagainstchildlabour #humanrights

Cheap food isn’t always a win. As @The Green Party @Zack Polanski put it, when prices are too low, “someone is being exploited somewhere”. And it doesn’t stop at supermarket shelves. Across global supply chains, the people growing our food often earn the least, sometimes less than a living income. This means that with many household staples, from cocoa to coffee to tea, cheap prices can come with a hidden cost of unfair pay, unsafe conditions, and communities not making enough money to tackle climate change. It shouldn’t be on farmers to carry the cost. We need a food system that’s fair to people and planet 🌍 #Fairtrade #GreenParty #Parliament #Politics #UKPolitics

❗REMINDER: This weather in May is not normal. And if it feels intense here, imagine what it’s like for the people growing and picking our food around the world. For millions of farmers and workers, this isn’t a one-off heatwave. It’s the reality of a climate crisis they did the least to cause but are being hit by the hardest. We've already seen temperatures of over 50C in India this week. And when extreme heat hits it means crop failure, lost income, and communities pushed further into poverty. The climate crisis is a Human Rights issue, and right now it’s about making sure farmers have the resilience to deal with the inevitable climate shocks that hit them more and more frequently. So while many of us enjoy the sunshine, it’s worth asking who is really paying the price for this heat? #Heatwave #fyp #UK #News #Summer

In the time you can make a chai latte, you can make a real change ✨ One year ago, we launched our #BrewItFair campaign, and said the tea industry had to change. Because the bitter truth in tea is that just 1 in 5 farmers in Kenya earn enough to live on. In parts of India, tea workers still earn less than £3 a day. That's not fair. And one year on the pressure is working. Fairtrade tea sales grew by 35% - that’s 549 million more cups choosing a fairer deal. @Sainsbury’s switched all own-brand tea to Fairtrade - delivering around £1 million a year back to producers. And 100,000 of you signed our petition and took this fight to government. But there’s still more to do to make the tea industry fair. We call on all tea brands and retailers selling tea to join our movement for fairer tea - and together, we can #BrewItFair And we need everyone to be choosing Fairtrade tea and backing the farmers behind it. #fyp #colonialism #decolonise

The Times Rich List is out, and it is a stark reminder of how extreme wealth is growing and keeps concentrating at the top. While fortunes run into the hundreds of billions, many of the people who grow our food and make our everyday products are struggling to make ends meet. Across global supply chains, millions of farmers and workers earn less than a living income - in many sectors like tea and cocoa, some are paid so little they can’t reliably afford food, healthcare or education for their families. The issues that so many here in the UK are facing - like choosing between heating and eating - are directly reflected in the lives of these people on the other side of the world. This is the result of a system where wealth flows upwards, while the people doing the hardest work are undervalued and underpaid. Today, we should be asking harder questions about what, and who, this list really represents. Because the people behind our food are what keep the economy running and their labour creates the wealth being celebrated today - does that seem fair? #TimesRichList #WealthInequality #LivingIncome #News #TimesRichList2026

Today's King's speech is another missed opportunity for the UK to commit to stronger protections by businesses for people and planet We're disappointed at this lack of change, but we know there is public demand for the introduction of mandatory human rights & environmental due diligence law (otherwise known as HREDD) - and the 100,000 people who have already signed our petition so far show that! Without strong enforceable laws, exploitation, unsafe working conditions and environmental damage remain in global supply chains. Voluntary pledges aren’t enough and we need to see more to combat these issues. Across Europe, governments are moving forward. The EU already has due diligence legislation to hold companies accountable for harm in their supply chains. The UK risks falling behind and leaving people and the planet exposed. Mandatory HREDD would ensure businesses are held to account for what goes on in their supply chains - ensuring human rights and environmental protections across all sectors. For Fairtrade producers already dealing with climate change and volatile markets, it would mean fairer trading practices and a more just share of value. The Government must show leadership and bring forward strong HREDD legislation without delay. #KingsSpeech #HumanRights #ResponsibleBusiness #ClimateJustice #News

As prices rise, some brands are cutting down the amount of real cocoa in their chocolate. When companies use less cocoa, it’s the farmers at the end of the supply chain who lose out. And that’s not fair. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Some brands are doing the right thing - working with Fairtrade to source real cocoa responsibly and backing the people who grow it. Brands like @Tony's Chocolonely UK & IRE @divinechocolateuk @Waitrose & Partners @Marks and Spencer @Co-op Choose Fairtrade chocolate to support cocoa farmers and their communities! #Chocolate #EthicalShopping #Brands #Supermarkets #BuyBetter

Why did no one tell us chocolate is a fruit?! 🍫 No seriously, cocoa comes from a cocoa pod growing on a tree. Inside that pod? Beans. Those beans get fermented, dried, roasted… and become chocolate. From fruit on a tree to the bar in your bag, cocoa has a whole journey. And once you see it, you’ll never look at chocolate the same way again 👀 #DidYouKnow #FoodTok #LearnOnTikTok #ChocolateTok #Fairtrade

🍌 It’s Banana Day! The UK gets through 5 billion bananas a year - and every single one sold at @Sainsbury’s is Fairtrade! That means behind every banana is a real farmer, being offered greater security, a fair price for their crops and support to build more sustainable production and stronger communities. This is Sandra, a banana grower in Colombia. Through Fairtrade and its work with Sainsbury’s, she’s been able to develop her career, speak up and lead in her community and get the financial support she needed to send her son to university. So when you pick up your weekly Fairtrade bunch - for breakfast bowls, lunchboxes or banana bread - you’re helping support the farmers and communities who make it possible 🍌 #BananaDay #Fairtrade #EverydayChoices

Our power is in community. In organising. In listening to the people most impacted and backing them when they demand better. We went live with Venetia La Manna and cocoa farmer Dora to talk about what real change actually looks like: holding corporations accountable for human rights and climate harm, and refusing to accept systems that profit from exploitation. This is exactly why #FairtoPeople exists. Sign the petition. Link in bio. #PeopleOverProfit #EthicalConsumption #Capitalism #PowerToThePeople

Did you know one in three cocoa workers in Ghana are children? Cocoa Farmer Dora said: that’s not fair. So when her village in Ghana had no primary school, she built one, starting with six kids in her own home. Now 170 children are learning instead of working. This is what happens when women farmers claim their power and confidence - supported by programs like Fairtrade’s Women’s School of Leadership. This is what #FairToPeople looks like. 📸 Thanks to Dora and Cecil for filming this #DoItFair #HumanRights Fairtrade #Ghana #Education

Your chocolate doesn’t come from Brum - or Switzerland. It comes from cocoa farmers in places like Ghana, who are too often paid the least in a billion‑pound industry they make possible. While Easter eggs fill our shelves, many farmers earn pennies, face rising costs and climate shocks, and struggle to afford basics. Low pay fuels inequality, child labour, and a system that isn’t sustainable. Fairtrade helps protect farmers, but fairness shouldn’t be optional. That’s why we’re calling on the UK government to make protecting people and the planet the law, not a choice. Because the people behind our chocolate shouldn’t be invisible or left behind. #thelastleg #news #channel4 #easter #Fairtrade @Channel 4
