Since I came to the village, one thing has refused to give me peace, which is this rain. I don't know if it's only raining this much here or it's everywhere, because sometimes it starts in the morning and continue until night. And when it comes to rain like this here, cooking becomes stressful, because most times you hardly find firewood that is dry. Sometimes you don't even see firewood at all, because the rain is not even allowing people to go fetch firewood in the forest. So this morning we decided to make pounded yam and white soup, which is actually my mom's favourite. At this point, I'm convinced that even if we make pandemium everyday, this woman will not complain. As usual, nobody was allowed to sit down and just watch one person do all the work, as cooking in this house has always been a team's work. So before we stay cooking, everybody just had to choose what they wanted to do. One person volunteered to slice the yam and monitor it until it was soft, while the other one chews pounding the yam. And they left the cooking of the actual soup for me, which I did not even mind, said because when it comes to cooking, everybody just has to do a little something so that the food can get done faster. And that is why I really enjoy cooking in the village. Once the yam became soft, my sister just had to take over. The pounding and, you know, the stand time. She was ready, so it was time for me to make the soup. I had to first of all wash my meat properly, then season it before placing it on the fire to get soft. Once it was soft, the first thing I did was to introduce the pounded yam in order to thicken the soup first before going in with my crayfish with some blended peppers, seasoning cubes and a little bit of salt. I had to add the oxtail last. And yes, my white soup was ready. My sister helped me bring down the pot and my mom dish for every one of us. See you all in my next vlog. Bye.
