You might not realise you need the answer to this question before it's too late 💔 THE ANSWER ⬇️ C) REPOSITION OR CUT BRA! AED pads must be applied to bare skin and in the correct position, as shown on the pads. This might mean you need to reposition the person's bra OR if the bra interferes with correct placement, it needs to be removed. Most AED kits contain scissors, so cut down the front of the bra where it's fabric only ✂️ If bra removal is required, it should be done in the patient’s best interests and as discreetly and privately as possible. Once the pads are on, clothing can be placed back over the chest area to help maintain the person’s privacy. 📢 Remember: Call Triple Zero (000) straight away. The call-taker will tell you what to do and remain on the phone with you.

Did you know weight loss medications can also help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke? Sometimes even independent of weight loss itself. 👇 You might know them by brand names like Ozempic or Wegovy. The medical name is GLP-1 receptor agonists, and they're increasingly being used to support both weight management and heart health, particularly for people already living with, or at high risk of, cardiovascular disease. That matters because around two in three Australian adults are living with overweight or obesity. Heart-healthy eating and physical activity remain essential for everyone, but for some people, medication can play an important role too. The best first step? Talk to your GP about what's right for you. ❤️

When someone collapses and stops breathing normally, their chance of survival drops by 7-10% every single minute without help. But if CPR and an AED shock happen within the first 3-5 minutes, survival rates jump from around 10% to 60-70% ‼️ Here's how to CALL - PUSH - SHOCK. 📱 CALL 000: This is step one, always. Do it yourself or instruct someone close by to do it. Don't assume someone else already has. 🫷 PUSH - start CPR: You don't need to be perfect. Any attempt at resuscitation is better than none. Push, hard and fast in the centre of the chest at around 100-120 bpm (think of the song Stayin' Alive). And if you don't know CPR, that's ok. The Triple Zero call taker will guide you. ⚡SHOCK - grab your nearest AED (automated external defibrillator): Modern AEDs are built for untrained bystanders. Turn it on, and it will talk you through every step. It will only deliver a shock if the heart actually needs one - you cannot use it wrong. Save this post 🔖 It might save someone's life.

On the outside, Taiya lives a vibrant life. But for more than two years, she’s been waiting for a heart transplant - living within limits most people never have to think about. Waiting means staying close to home. Keeping the phone on loud. Building her days around uncertainty and learning how to live in all the little moments in between. Taiya is strong. She’s hopeful. She’s still fighting. But with Taiya’s complex medical history, she could be waiting for years. Continued heart research can help create better treatments and more options for people waiting for a transplant like Taiya. Read Taiya’s full story 👉 Link in bio
