Back with part 2! My birthday may have already passed by now 😅 but that’s no reason not to celebrate how pretty this dress is now that it’s complete 😍 . The top was cut out and assembled using Orange Lingeries’s Esplanade pattern. And then I used a wood burner to speedily cut out the floral appliqués and got to work draping them on the bodice in a pattern that I liked. Since I used the floral fabric as appliqués, I only ended up using about half a yard for this dress… but I bought 6 whole yds of the fabrics… so maybe I’ll have to make another dress in the future 🤔😁 . Prepping for my upcoming birthday the best way I know how: sewing a dress! And not just any dress, a @TEUTA MATOSHI -inspired dress 🤩 . I’ve loved Teuta Matoshi dresses for a long time and I finally decided to challenge myself to recreate one of her dresses when I went to @finefabricsusa in Atlanta this past August and found this beautiful floral embroidered fabric! . Sorry I rambled for a bit but here’s the details on how I made the skirt: 6 half circle skirt layers (1 on matte satin, 5 of tulle) + 1 top layer of 10 yds of tulle gathered down to do the waist. The skirt of the Wednesday Addams Dress is done and with that, the whole dress for @Mood Fabrics ‘s Nightshade Dress contest is completed! Please keep up the support and wishes for good luck in this contest, I truly appreciate all of them 🥰 🖤 The skirts were quite simple in theory to make as both the underskirt and over skirt were just half circle skirts with ruffles attached. A whole 5 yds of organza went into creating the overskirt and to me, that didn’t feel like enough! Please continue to wish me good luck in this contest as I finish up the skirt! 🖤 I found the pattern and instructions pretty easy to follow as an intermediate sewer and only deviated when I decided to swap out the buttons for something more ~spooky~ and when I decided to add more ruffles to match the fullness seen in the show. I always look forward to Thursday sewing nights for cozy friendship times and to slowly condition Bailey to get into Critical Role 🤩 . This sewing night was less actual sewing for me and more assembling pattern pieces that I plan to use for future thrifting projects. Sometimes sewing nights are super hectic if I have deadlines coming up and sometimes they’re more chill like this one where I just cut and taped paper while chatting about content strategies and future big projects we all want to start 👀 . I said I wasn’t planning to make anything new for #otakon2023 and then a week out from the con I decided I needed a cottagecore outfit to match my Korok mask made by the amazing @natlycosplay…. So I busted out the pattern from the illustrious #redthreaded 1780 Stays and got to work . Getting lost among the wisteria 💜 . I saw Suzume this past weekend and enjoyed it! As always, the animation and visuals are beautiful and the song Suzume is what obviously prompted me to make this video. The motif of the doors in the movie reminded me of my romping around Dumbarton Oaks and specifically of me running towards a particular wrought iron gate (door).
