Fancy Fingers (@itsmefancyfingers)

I wrote and recorded this song almost exactly two years ago in a hotel room in Kribi, Cameroon. I was invited by one of Africa’s greatest musicians @blickbassy for a writing camp. I was inspired a lot by my experience there. I also fell in love with #AfroHouse and was ready to try something new…

What happens when you get invited inside a real Manyatta in the middle of Turkana by @apuu333 with a #Jawaya Guitar? MAGIC. It was a spiritual experience spontaneously making music with the most gracious women and children in Lodwar. I was truly transported to a whole new dimension. This song…

Ain’t no music smoother than rhumba music. If you listen carefully, the guitar is always literally telling the story together with the singer. Magic. #JamWithJawaya #FancyFingers #MadiluSystem

Watu wa Friday night Rhumba report here 😃💁🏿‍♂️ #JamWithJawaya #FancyFingers

Rhumba style of playing has quite some similarities with Benga. I grew up listening to both genres and somehow managed to curve out my own style. A musical salad. A beautiful melange of both. The song is #Masou by the legendary Franco Luambo Makiadi. Calling out all producers to try something on…

PART 2: Then in comes the plectrum in all its glory 😃🎸 #JamWithJawaya #FancyFingers

One great lesson I have learnt about my many years of playing electric guitar is to aim to be as good with your finger-picking as you are with your plectrum. The goal is to be versatile with both. You can develop over reliance on one of them, and more often than not it’s the plectrum. This is part…

Music directing for @Tina Ardor with top musicians really makes the work very smooth. Shout out to my drummer Kibamba! 🔥🔥
