Sometimes it’s a specific system, procedure, or issue we’ve been seeing more of. Whatever we’re focusing on that week or month, we make time to actually train on it. Because expecting technicians to keep getting better without giving them time to learn doesn’t make much sense. And before the comment section gets fired up: P.S. Dead battery? It might not be the battery at all. On this vehicle, the drive belt came off because the water pump pulley was failing. That meant the alternator wasn’t turning, so the battery wasn’t getting charged. This is why routine maintenance and scheduled auto repair services are so important. When I started the shop, I pictured a clean, organized tool room, working on engines, and getting to do all the fun stuff.
