Exploring Lisbon one mural at a time, thanks to @lisbonstreetarttours and @yesyoucanspray 🎨✨ Our street art tour started in Martim Moniz Square and took us up the colorful Surradores Alley, where we saw C’Marie’s powerful mural “We Are Light, We Are Fire, We Are Creation” created for National Women’s Day 2024. Further up the stairs, Camilla Watson’s beautiful photo installations brought the neighborhood’s soul to life—locals included. And of course, I was so excited to see the carved wall art of Vhils, one of my favorites (and yes, he has a piece back home in Cincinnati at @arnolds_cincinnati !). We even got to spray paint our own bags at the end—mine in azulejos, Jim’s in sardines 🐟💙 Such a fun, creative anniversary adventure. MAKE A CUSTOM RING IN JAPAN 🇯🇵 💍 While in Kyoto, we visited @glanta_kyoto, a charming custom ring shop that’s part of a beloved chain found throughout Japan. The experience of making our own wedding bands was intimate, hands-on, and full of meaning. Here's how the process unfolded: 🧠 Design Consultation – We sat down with a Glänta artisan to choose our materials, finishes, and ring styles, blending their expert advice with our personal touches. 🔨 Metal Shaping – Although we did not get to melt the metal ourselves, we received the rings post molding. We carefully bent and hammered the material into a circular shape, slowly forming the base of our rings. I found it so interesting how we started with a small ring and we hammered it out into the appropriate size. 💍 Polishing & Finishing – We took turns sanding, polishing, and adding texture to the bands, deciding how shiny or matte we wanted them to be. 🖋️Engraving – As a final step, we engraved a message on the inside—something just for us. I love trying new food so here are the foods I tried in #cairo Koshari- a traditional Egyptian staple of mixing pasta, Egyptian fried rice, vermicelli and brown lentils,and topped with a zesty tomato sauce, garlic vinegar and garnished with chickpeas and crispy fried onions.
