How to pick the right size crate. This is a question I get a lot from my clients. And everybody's instinct is to get a bigger crate. In reality, if the crate is too big, this can defeat the purpose. The goal of crate training is to give our dog a place to settle. We want it just big enough where they can stand up and turn around comfortably, but not face back and forth. This crate is way too big for Makai, so I'll be moving into a smaller one and just using this as a backup when he's more prepared to handle his face.
