THE FIVE MEN OF GOD WHO BUILT A CHURCH IN JUST EIGHT MONTHS! Before you say I am exaggerating, let me tell you about five Catholic priests who, through their sacrifice, commitment, and personal financial contributions, built a church for the Catholic faithful at Trom, Koforidua, in just eight months! Imagine if the news were about social vices or some scandal involving these priests. I can bet it would be making headlines and dominating conversations everywhere. Or imagine if these men had chosen to use their resources to build luxurious homes for themselves. But instead, they chose to invest in God’s house and build a lasting legacy of faith for the people of Trom and generations yet unborn. Why should we not make their sacrifice the news? Why should we not celebrate men who have chosen to give rather than accumulate for themselves? Today, let us give these men of God their flowers while they can still smell them. Their sacrifice deserves to be celebrated, their story deserves to be told, and their example deserves to inspire us all! The church was made possible through the vision, sacrifices, and financial contributions of these five admirable priests: 🔸 Rev. Fr. Joseph Quainoo Aggrey, JCL Pastoral Director and Chancellor of the Diocese. Ordained in 1994, he conceived the vision of building the church alongside his brother priests. 🔸 Rev. Fr. Ebenezer Kenneth Abban, PhD DHS Director, Hospital Manager of St. Dominic Catholic Hospital, Akwatia, and KODPA President. Ordained in 2003. 🔸 Rev. Fr. Michael Numekevor Jnr, Esq. Diocesan Civil Lawyer, Priest in Charge of Lands and Estates, and Priest Responsible for Non-Catholic Schools in Koforidua. Ordained in 2008. 🔸 Rev. Fr. Ericus E. Yaw Akahoho Parish Priest of OLF Catholic Church, Akim Oda, and Coordinator of Liturgy in the Diocese. Ordained in 2009. 🔸 Rev. Fr. Derrick Eyram Senanu Parish Priest of St. Peter Catholic Church, Somanya, Dean of Somanya Deanery, and Priest Responsible for Development and Projects in the Diocese. Ordained in 2015. These men have demonstrated that priesthood is not only about preaching the Word of God but also about building communities, making sacrifices, and creating lasting legacies of faith. Today, we celebrate not just a building, but the vision, generosity, and dedication that brought it to life. Last week was a productive one. I met with clients, completed assignments, and travelled out of town for a stakeholder conference on student financial aid, where I had the opportunity to meet amazing people in the education sector. On Wednesday, I returned to the Bar Dinner to capture beautiful moments of my seniors. Thursday was for rest and editing, and Friday was the Call to the Bar. Looking back, my heart is filled with gratitude and satisfaction. Seeing those a year ahead of us complete this journey and get called to the Bar is a beautiful reminder that, by God’s grace, my colleagues and I will soon have our own moment. One year at a time, one step at a time. As we step into a new week, may it be filled with God’s favour, grace, and mercy. May our efforts yield success, our prayers turn into testimonies, and our hearts find more reasons to be grateful. On Thursday, 27th August 2026, I had the profound honour of taking the sacred Oaths of Office, Allegiance and Secrecy as the 67th Organizing Secretary of the Students’ Representative Council of the Ghana School of Law. It was more than a ceremony. It was a solemn moment of transition, responsibility and service. As the baton was handed over to a new administration, I was reminded that leadership is not merely about holding an office, but about being entrusted with the opportunity to serve others. Standing before God, my colleagues and the School, I felt deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in me. I pray that the Holy Spirit strengthens, guides and equips me to serve with wisdom, humility, diligence and integrity. May my time in office be marked by meaningful service, genuine impact and successes that will benefit the student body.
