The day the world stopped to listen. #AmericanHostage premieres September 20 on #MGMplus. @mgmplus, @mgmplusuk

All the years of traveling have taken their toll on my body. In my body, on my soul. I can feel the early sunlight in the Monterey airport as I wait to fly home. Walking out onto the tarmac, like we do in Burbank where one can exit off the back of the plane. Or flying to JFK, before 9/11 changed everything. A bus ride to Scranton. The train ride to Poughkeepsie. My parents owned a CB radio with which we’d talk to truckers on I-80, their advice to wrap it up in Seran Wrap when visiting the Mustang. Over and out. Lonely roads, and desert caves with fossilized shells in the sandstone walls. A sand mountain sifting through the desert, a big south, and Michelle Phiffer. A boat around the world, calm seas before China, pirate watch in the Indian Ocean, the Suez Canal, the rock of Gibraltar, and the calmly rolling Saragossa Sea near the Bermuda Triangle. Tobal Jubkal, and the snake I ate in Shanghai. Tunnels in Vietnam small enough to feel the bat fly through my hair. Around the world in 107 days. New York’s fine, but LA became our home. We made it in the biggest little city in the world. Retreated to the heat of Florida and the beat of our drum. Your heart. Our babies. This life.
