قصة مؤلمة ما زالت حاضرة في ذاكرة الجالية العراقية في أمريكا: نور المالكي، شابة عراقية أمريكية عمرها 20 عاماً، فقدت حياتها عام 2009 في مدينة بيوريا بولاية أريزونا، بعد أن دهسها والدها فالح حسن المالكي بسيارته عمداً في موقف سيارات، وأصاب معها أمال خلف، والدة الشاب الذي كانت ترتبط به، بجروح خطيرة. الشرطة والادعاء قالا إن الدافع كان غضب الأب من نمط حياة ابنته «المتأثر بالغرب» ورفضها زواجاً مرتباً من أحد أقاربها في العراق، وهي القضية التي عُرفت إعلامياً بوصفها جري.مة شرف، وكانت أول قضية من نوعها تُحاكم في أريزونا. نور بقيت في غيبوبة نحو أسبوعين قبل أن تُعلن وفاتها دماغياً في 2 نوفمبر 2009، فيما فرّ الأب إلى المكسيك ثم لندن حيث اعتُقل وأُعيد إلى أمريكا. وفي فبراير 2011 أدانته هيئة محلفين بالقت.ل من الدرجة الثانية والاعتداء المشدد وترك مكان الحادث، وحُكم عليه بالسجن 34 عاماً ونصف. قضية نور بقيت حتى اليوم رمزاً للنقاش حول حماية الفتيات من العنف الأسري داخل مجتمعات المهاجرين، وأسهمت في تأسيس حملات ومنظمات مناهضة لهذا النوع من الجرائم في الولايات المتحدة. The Iraqi Hawker Hunter Squadron The Hawker Hunter entered service with the Iraqi Air Force during the 1950s and became one of Iraq's most prominent fighter aircraft of that era. Known for its speed and its ability to perform interception and ground-attack missions, the Hunter took part in several important events in the history of the Iraqi Its role became particularly notable during the 1967 Six-Day War, when Iraqi Hunter squadrons were deployed to H-3 Al-Walid Air Base in western Iraq. The aircraft carried out combat missions against Israeli targets while also contributing to the defense of Iraqi air bases during the conflict. Yesterday in 2004, #Marines launched the Second Battle of Fallujah, also known as Operation Phantom Fury. For more than six weeks, Marines and U.S. Army Soldiers fought alongside coalition partners to clear the cityof insurgents. The street-to-street and house-to-house fighting was some of the most intense combat of the Iraq War, and led to acts of exceptional courage by Marines and Soldiers.
