The locals hate this building for 50 years

This skyscraper is so hated despite the fact that it's been standing for 50 years, it actually offers the best view in all of Paris, simply because it's the only place where you can't see it. Tour Montparnasse was completed in 1973 and is the tallest building in France. But from the moment it was built, it was despised by Parisians, so much so that the city government eventually banned the construction of similar high rise buildings after the devastation of World War 2. Tour Montparnasse was intended to symbolize a more modern Paris, but for most people it has always felt out of place. Unlike the Eiffel Tower, this 210 meter tall building is often referred to as a blight on the Paris skyline. Nearly everyone mocks it for its bulky shape and awkward scale.
