Head to the Rainbow Falls Trailhead in Gorges State Park, NC. This hike is a moderate 1.5 miles to Rainbow Falls. You will actually leave Gorges State Park before the halfway point and enter Pisgah National Forest. About a 10 minute (approximately half mile) past Rainbow Falls, you will come to Turtleback Falls. Parts of this hike are certainly risky/extreme. Use extra caution crossing the slippery rocks to get here. You will probably see people sliding down the waterfall into the little pool at the bottom here! This is not a loop, so you will have to hike the two miles back. When you leave Gorges State Park, head left and follow signs for Whitewater Falls (about a 10-15 minute drive). This is a very easy quarter mile hike out to the overlook (lots of stairs though, so plan accordingly). My husband text me and told me we had reservations somewhere fancy and I needed to wear a pink dress. He picked Juniper downtown Greenville because he knew I would love all the flowers. He told me to pick anything and everything I wanted off the menu. Perfect night! We started with the oysters (they were okay, they were the smallest oysters I have ever seen in my life. The sauces were superb though) and the Rich Girl cocktail was so dangerously delicious I had two (the vanilla bean in the drink is what makes it, plus the cute ring on the glass is a fun bonus). Then we had the tuna tartare - AMAZING. No notes, just fabulous. The filet mignon with the whipped potatoes and sautéed mushrooms was decadent. The filet couldn’t have been anymore perfectly cooked. Had a double down cocktail - it was okay, not my fave.
