I was so excited for this scene when I saw it posted because I loved how Kristian looked and I was so excited to see what the scene would be. But then it never happened in the show and Simon never even wore this outfit 😭 I also think this could’ve just been a day that Kristian was on set and he was just chilling. This is one of the many things that I constantly talk about with double standards when it comes to the men in Maddie’s life. The moment Simon gave Maddie his sweater was such a beautiful genuine moment between them, it gave us so much context without needing to say alot. Now many people in this fandom will swear up and down that Simon and Maddie’s relationship has no romantic undertones whatsoever. Then jump to S3 and now all of sudden the writers felt the need to reheat the nachos of this scene for a moment between Maddie and Wally. Now again, which scene do people have no problem perceiving as romantic when the scenes are literally the exact same? Makes you think doesn’t it? Anyways, all in all I just hate that the writers took something so special away from Simon and Maddie’s relationship and gave it to Wally for stupid fan service. I’ve seen a lot of people point out that Maddie constantly touches Simon as soon as they’re able to touch and omg, she literally cannot let this man go for one second! 😂 I love that Peyton, Kristian and the crew put little things like this into the show. The discourse that I’ve been seeing about these 3 and their relationships with Maddie, specifically in season 3, have always bothered me. I do not understand the vitriol that Simon gets from even the idea of him and Maddie being a couple what has this man done that has got everyone’s pants in a twist? If you don’t like them as a ship that’s fine! You do you! But the fact is that there’s always ONE comment under every Simon and Maddie edit is that they HAVE TO STAY FRIENDS. Bugs the hell out of me! You don’t see that under any Mally edits so why can’t people just stay in their lanes. And also the fact that some people just forgave Xavier because he’s doing the bare minimum also bugs the hell out of me. Has he done some work on himself? Absolutely, but in NO WAY does that mean he should even be in the conversation about potential love interests for Maddie. Once a cheater, always a cheater. And finally we have Simon, listen, is he intense, yes. Can he be a dick, yes. Can he improve himself, absolutely! But does that mean that his actions/ feelings for Maddie deserve to be put into a box and be degraded and diminished just because he’s a POC and he’s not a typical looking leading man? NO! Ship what you want to ship, I don’t really care. But please, I beg some of you, please just maybe take a moment to really watch the show, watch the scenes and the writing Maddie has with these guys and maybe try to see it from a different perspective. Unconscious bias can shift your perspective in such a way that you literally have to force it out of you and can cause unintended harm towards others. I’m not trying to police anyone into what they can and can’t ship. But I’m tired of Simon and his actions being treated as if they’re not worthy of being a romantic interest or being seen as romantic when he’s done more work to be there and help Maddie more then anyone else on the show and I find that truly unfair because if a white male did half of the stuff Simon has done he’d be praised for it. Sorry for the long rant, hope you guys understand what I’m trying to say 😂 I just love my little ghost show ok? Also please let me know if I missed anything good or bad regarding any of the boys.
