In Las Vegas, eviction cases can be decided by unelected hearing masters rather than elected judges. As the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada challenges the practice, its director of Advocacy and Strategic Initiatives, Bailey Bortolin, said: “Access to justice should not depend on ZIP code.” Read more from The Nevada Independent by clicking the link in our bio. 🔗 https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/many-nevada-evictions-are-oked-by-unelected-hearing-masters-a-new-lawsuit-could-change-that

From rural Nevada to Southern Nevada, community members came together to deliver one clear message to our members of Congress: reject Palantir money and put our communities first. Last Friday, we delivered letters to Nevada’s congressional offices urging our elected officials to stand with the people they represent—not corporate interests seeking influence. Our communities deserve leaders who prioritize transparency, accountability, and the well-being of Nevadans over corporate profits. We’ll continue organizing and holding our leaders accountable to ensure our voices are heard. #RejectPalantir #PeopleOverProfits #Nevada #CorporateAccountability

Nevada's elected officials work for Nevadans — not tech billionaires, corporate developers, or wealthy special interests. They must put our communities first by protecting our water, public lands, data, jobs, and health from corporate greed.

What does Pride mean to you? This Pride Month, we asked members of our team to share what Pride means to them, why celebrating matters, and why the fight for LGBTQ+ justice continues. Pride is more than a celebration—it's about honoring those who came before us, uplifting our communities, and continuing to advocate for a future where everyone can live authentically and without fear. Happy Pride! 🌈💜 #PrideMonth #LGBTQ

Last week, community members arrived at the PUCN hearing ready to share how rising energy costs are affecting their families. Instead, many were left waiting outside in 105° heat, surrounded by police, with limited access to basic accommodations while they waited for the opportunity to be heard. Nevadans deserve a seat at the table when decisions about utility rates are being made. Public hearings should be accessible, transparent, and designed to encourage participation—not create barriers for the very people most impacted by these decisions. When families are struggling with rising bills and new charges, their voices should be welcomed, not kept waiting outside.

💵 Nevadans are tired of rising economic inequality and an unfair tax system that continues to impact our communities. At a recent roundtable with Andrew Clarke, Coalition Coordinator of the Nevada Revenue Coalition alongside BBP, members learned more about how taxation works in Nevada and shared their own lived experiences. Our communities are organizing and speaking out, demanding a fairer system that works for all of us! #SecureOurFuture #TaxTheRich #NVLeg #EconomicJustice

The Jones-Shafroth Act has never been simple. While it granted citizenship, it also deepened political ambiguities, divided opinions on the island, and raised questions about U.S. intentions. More than a century later, Puerto Ricans still debate its impact—and many wonder if it was truly meant to serve their interests. #HispanicHistory #PuertoRico
