ad OMG! Is this the best makeover so far for my 1% challenge? I think it might be! So, back story... this unloved corner is the first thing friends and family see when they step into my home, and it really wasn’t giving. It looked sterile and unstylish. After procrastinating for a year, I finally addressed my tall, draughty back door with a little help from @BlindsDirect As a solo renovator on a budget, I never thought I could afford made-to-measure curtains, which is one of the reasons I put this job off for so long. Blinds Direct make everything to your measurements, and the SureFit promise means the whole process is stress free. I knew the timeless look of the Bude Harbour striped fabric was THE ONE once I saw the samples in my home. I’ve definitely entered my stripe era. And since I’m thrifty, I added thermal blackout lining to keep my heating bills down and boost the cosiness here as well. My trick? A double pole. That way, you can filter the daylight with the Linen Cream curtains during the day, and then at night, the curtains keep the heat in (and the cold out). And let me tell you, I feel sooooo grown up with the double pinch pleat heading. This little corner with the lush, heavy draped curtains is now worthy of a Bridgerton film set. 🥂 I’m pretty proud of this one. This 1% win has really made my home a little bit more me... I hope you love it too. 📲 Follow me so you don’t miss my next ‘Making A Home 1% Better’ challenge. ➡️ Give Blinds Direct a follow and check out their made-to-measure range. 📍 Save this post if you live in a small home with an even smaller budget. 📩 And send this post to someone who loves a good before and after.

My heart is racing a little bit hitting publish on this one… 🫣 Putting yourself out there on the internet is always a bit scary, and I’ve been so worried about how this post will do. But I really want to find my tribe on here—the people who get it. The people who look at the kitchen at 6:00 PM after a long day and think, "Ugh, what an absolute chore." 😅 If you're listening to the voiceover on this reel, you'll know I’m on a mission to learn to love cooking again, completely fuss-free. No fancy baking, no complicated ingredients. Just lush, healthy, budget-friendly comfort food that leaves plenty of leftovers for solo living. I’m stepping out of my comfort zone by showing up here, but I really hope we can navigate the kitchen, the budget, and the lifestyle upgrades together. If you stumbled across this, please don't be a stranger! Say hi, let me know where you're tuning in from, or tell me: what's your ultimate lazy-night dinner? Let’s build our tribe in the comments!

Let me be honest for you. At 49 years young, im not afraid to admit... 1. Being single was never the plan. I thought I'd be married with kids by 18! It's taken me a long time to feel comfortable making big decisions in my life for no one but myself, and it's also meant that at the end of every day it's just me covering the bills and the mortgage with nobody to split it with. I wouldn't have it any other way though, even if I do sometimes wish there was someone around to take the bins out. 2. Solo DIY is hard. You get conflicting advice from every direction, it's overwhelming, and when you make a mistake the cost lands entirely on you. This week I managed to properly ruin my flooring thanks to a water leak, and the thought of pulling it all up is currently keeping me awake at night. 3. I never expect my career to be so topsy turvy. When I started out as a stylist for magazines, I had no idea that nearly twenty seven years later I'd be sharing my life online, writing a blog and even TV presenting, which is so much bigger and stranger than I ever thought it would be. I also genuinely thought that by nearly fifty I'd have some financial security, that I wouldn't still be hustling this hard, and that I wouldn't still be slogging away at it the way I am. If you're just starting out in your career, remember that your working life takes up ninety nine percent of your time, so try to find something you love and are proud to do. Easier said than done, I know. 4. The best friend you'll ever had is yourself. My dad taught me this one. I want you to forgive your mistakes and celebrate your small wins, even the tiny ones nobody else notices. It's so much harder than it sounds, but it might be the most important thing on this whole list. 5. The world is becoming more unkind. Almost daily, I find myself dispapointed by what unkind things people say. I had to stop a man on Brighton seafront screaming at his dog last week, and I was shocked to hear a drunken rasicst remark to the staff of KFC in the summer people are being more and more unkind which makes me want to cry. What's your thoughts?

ad I'm about to give away one of my best-kept secrets. 📍 Save this post for your next day out in Brighton! As an interiors editor living in Brighton, the best part of my job is tracking down new pop-ups where you can pick up something special for your home. Dukes Lane is a hidden gem you need to know about, and it's just got even better because @e_nation and @edfenergy have teamed up to give small businesses a free spot in a pop-up shop right on Dukes Lane, running until the 26th of July. You need to see this before it's gone! 🛍️ 🏃♀️ 💨 I popped on Saturday and had the best time pottering around, so many gorgeous homewares and independent brands under one roof. I discovered the following brands who you need to give a follow to: @Elwinstudio ~ fashion @Iamonyxstudio ~ ceramics @Anikelifestyle ~ calming home fragrence @Natrieclean ~ eco cleaning products @Wild.wipe ~ personal hygiene Go and show them some love, it makes a real difference to small business owners taking a chance on the high street. And if you're a small business owner yourself, EDF and Enterprise Nation are opening up future pop-up spots too, head to their website to find out how to apply. I love this idea so much as I think it will help power the high street and give small businesses much needed help they need 💪 #brighton #brightonandhove #independentshop #shoplocal

Has this ever happened to you? Months of hard work and on shoot day the weather just laughs at you. My tiny Brighton yarden is being photographed for a magazine and shoot day arrived with clouds and zero sunshine. But you push on through don't you. I styled the space with cushions, an outdoor lamp, a £75 parasol, Homescapes hanging plant holders filled with strawberry plants and solar lights from Lights for Fun overhead. Me and my photographer prayed for sunshine and just in time it came out. Full magazine reveal coming very soon. Can you believe how much work has gone into this tiny space? Have you ever wanted your home or garden in a magazine? Tell me below and I will share all my tips! #gardenmakeover #smallgardenuk #gardentok #yarden

I have been fixating on my garden and now you know why. Magazine shoot incoming. No pressure at all. Two days before the shoot I panicked because my Brighton yarden had absolutely no colour in it. Ran straight to Dobbies, showed the staff photos of my garden on my phone and they helped me find exactly the right plants for every single spot. If you are a serial plant killer like me, Dobbies is genuinely your place. Filled my Amazon planter with gorgeous colourful plants, got my climber properly supported with a Dobbies frame and suddenly it looked like an actual garden. Full reveal coming very soon. Are you a plant killer or a plant parent? #gardenglowup #smallgardenuk #brightonhome #dobbies #yarden
