A historic derecho tore through northwest Indiana on Tuesday, August 11th. 80-100 mph winds were common with some areas likely seeing gusts to 120 mph. Forests are flattened and the damage is shocking. A week later, people are still really hurting and life won’t return back to normal for a long while. This should be a much bigger news story, as this is basically a local catastrophe.
