This is where it all started! We picked up this 1997 Nissan S14 Kouki after it had spent nearly 10 years sitting with its previous owner, who had owned it since 2007.   The paint was faded, it had some body damage, but underneath the hood was something special — a JDM notch-top SR20DET!   Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing the entire transformation from the day we brought it home to the finished car.   And yes, this is our current PBG#30 giveaway car! I’ve seen a lot of discussion about shared sweepstakes lately, so I just wanted to explain the difference—this isn’t meant to attack or call out any specific company.   A lot of us who have been doing automotive giveaways for years have always handled them ourselves. We buy the car, build it, pay for everything, take the risk, and give it to someone from our own pool of entries.   The shared model works differently. Multiple brands can promote the same prize, and entries generated across all of those websites go into one drawing. That allows smaller companies to advertise much bigger prizes without each company having to fund the entire thing themselves.   I’m not saying that automatically makes it bad. Just understand what you’re entering and read the rules, because your entries may be competing against customers from several different websites—not only the company you purchased from.   MotionAuto has never participated in a shared sweepstakes. We buy and build our own giveaway cars, fund the prizes ourselves, and keep our entry pool completely separate. Purchase entries and free mail-in entries are all submitted to a third-party administrator, and we find out who won when they send us the result.   Doing it this way means we take on a lot more risk and can’t promise the massive prizes some shared models can offer. But when we say we’re giving away one of our cars, it really is our car, our giveaway, and one of our entrants taking it home. That transparency has always been important to me.

Meet RED40. 🔴⚠️ These cars are getting harder and harder to find in this condition… let alone a 1997 Kouki 240SX with a clean, low-mile stock notchtop SR20DET under the hood. The previous owner has had this car since 2007, and for most of the last 10 years it’s basically just sat — only getting the occasional drive around the block to keep everything moving. And the crazy part is just how uncommon these late S14s were in the U.S. Only 3,655 240SXs were sold for the 1997 model year, followed by just 2,178 in 1998. That means only about 5,833 total '97–'98 Kouki 240SXs were sold here before the 240SX disappeared from the U.S. market. Now think about how many of those have been drifted, crashed, parted out, rusted away or heavily modified over the last 29 years… This one somehow survived. Ultra Red. Minty black interior. Uncracked dash. 5-lug swap. And an SR20DET under the hood. The paint has definitely seen better days, but underneath it all is an incredibly solid car. So naturally… I bought it. 😂 RED40 is coming home for the full MotionAuto treatment. Down to the final details. 👌   We used the Astro cooling system pressure tester & vacuum fill tool to pressure test the cooling system, vacuum fill it, and bleed the coolant so the Civic is ready for its first real drive.   We also finished off the engine bay with a new coil pack cover, billet dipstick, billet oil cap, and crankcase filter to clean up the last few details.   ⏳ The giveaway ends in less than 12 hours. One of the last major pieces of the build is done.   We installed a 4-1 megaphone header, modified a 3-inch exhaust to fit the K-swap, TIG welded the stainless piping, and finally got to hear the K20 run through a full exhaust for the first time.   We also show how much room the EG subframe swap gives you compared to a factory setup.   The Civic is almost finished, and so is the giveaway.   ⏳ Less than 36 hours left to enter.
