One of my goals for this year is to really only buy used or up-cycled clothing as a way to reduce the urge to give into fast fashion and reduce my carbon footprint. Last month I bought this incredible vest from @sewariasew and I haven’t been able to get this idea out of my head to hand embroider it. So I’m coming to you! How do you think I should stitch it?! When I was younger I was so worried about being taken seriously that I wore a TON of black (I also am an elder emo but I digress). As I’ve grown, I’ve started to realize that life is just way more fun in color 😉. That’s where @cathryn entered my life. And truly, she is such a wonderful and talented human. She’s insanely skilled in macrame, and knitting—but I really fell in love with her ice dying. Over the course of the past 3 years I have acquired enough of her work to wear a full week of her dyes 🤣, and I’m not even slightly embarrassed by that. So when I saw that my favorite pair of overalls had a white version, I knew I had to buy a few and ask Cathryn to make a few custom ice dyes for me. If ice dying is your jam, please go check out her work! She does custom dye jobs too and is also just a really amazing human! I get asked about how long pieces take me to make, so here’s an hour’s worth of work in a time lapse! There’s about 2-3 hours of work before this stage, where I cut the board to size, prep it, design the template and choose the fabric. #kinusaiga #fabricart
