🤖 Meet Sierre Ternoey-an industrial engineering student who just built an Al tool to help fix broken chemical plant blueprints, all while on a research stint in Aachen, Germany! Sierre had never taken a single chemical engineering course. But when her supervisor handed her an open-ended "wildcard" problem, she dove in anyway-and built an Al agent that reads dense error reports, figures out what broke, and fixes it. In its best run, it nailed 26 out of 30 test cases! Sierre says it all traces back to Northeastern's Cornerstone of Engineering course, where she learned to tackle problems before she even had the tools to solve them. Join us in celebrating Sierre! #AI #Germany #StudyAbroad #NUCOE #IndustrialEngineering @Northeastern @NortheasternCOE

Alumni Spotlight: Meet Sharvari Deshpande, a July 2025 graduate of Northeastern's Master of Science in Data Analytics Engineering program 🎓 Before Northeastern, she spent two years as a Data Engineer at Accenture, working on data pipelines and enterprise systems. That experience led her to ask a deeper question: once the data is engineered, how do you know what actually matters? That curiosity shaped her graduate journey and her coursework in data warehousing, generative AI, and data storytelling. Today, Sharvari is an Engineering Analyst at Google, where she still returns to the same core questions: What problem are we solving? What is the data telling us? What context might be missing? Her advice to students: build your path around curiosity, not just the "right" courses or job titles 💡 #MIE #NUCOE #DataAnalyticsEngineering #AlumniSpotlight #Google @Northeastern @NortheasternCOE

Shalini Agrawal's co-op: building the eyes for a robot that dives 4 miles underwater 🌊🤖 As a second-year robotics graduate student, she spent months in the lab improving the camera systems and navigation software for an autonomous underwater vehicle at Orpheus Ocean, a maritime robotics startup spun out of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Then came the real test: a week of field work off Cape Cod, where she reverse-engineered the camera system to work with the robot's autonomy software—and troubleshooting a buffering issue on the spot before a mission off the coast of Hawaii. Her manager said it best: everyone on the team loved working with her. Now, Shalini knows exactly where she wants her career to go. "Underwater robotics has taken over my mind," she says. "I want to see what's down there." #NortheasternUniversity #MIE #NUCOE #Robotics #CoOp @Northeastern @NortheasternCOE
