On the verge of flappers and swing jazz, Paris in 1916 was home to an eclectic carousel of artists and poets including Expressionist painter Amadeo Modigliani. It's this milieu of art, culture and literature that Johnny Depp conjured in his film. Chief among his team of behind-the-scenes creatives was acclaimed costume designer Penny Rose. In our interview with the Evita and Pirates of the Caribbean costume designer, Rose revealed her creative process, and how she crafts and manipulates garments to reflect the story being told. Character-building is another key aspect of Rose's work, and she also recalls dressing actors Riccardo Scamarcio and Antonia Desplat as Modi and his muse, the feminist journalist Beatrice Hastings. You can read our interviews with Penny Rose and Modi's production designer Dave Warren on our blog page, linked in our bio. #JohnnyDepp #PennyRose #Modigliani #DaveWarren #PantheonArt #IN2 #Evita #PiratesoftheCarribean #ModiThreeDaysOnTheWingOfMadness #costumedesign #AntoniaDesplat #BeatriceHastings #RiccardoScamarcio #artfilm

How has electronic music influenced art? With a boundary-pushing ethos, it has sparked a creative revolution far beyond sound – shaping the world of visual art and even the art market itself. On December 31st, the world will once again celebrate the life and legacy of one of the most iconic figures in electronic music – Avicii – with the release of a powerful new documentary. While Avicii inspired the masses with hits that bridged genres and emotions, artists were similarly responding to the earth-shattering beats of EDM. @juliemehretu, for instance, often translates the dynamic energy of electronic music into abstract works, layering forms and colours to evoke rhythm and movement. Similarly, @carsten.nicolai, a pioneer of visualizing sound, blends his work as a musician (Alva Noto) with his minimalist, sound-reactive installations. The painter @takashipom often cites the influence of electronic music on his vibrant compositions. Its ethos of experimentation, loops, and layers are echoed in the bold patterns and fluidity of his pieces. The crossover between these worlds has fueled a new generation of collectors. Visual art and electronic music also unite at festivals like @mutekmontreal and @sonarfestival– marketplaces where installations double as immersive experiences, and blur the lines between collector and participant. Electronic music hasn’t just influenced art; it has created a shared language of innovation, energy, and disruption. From underground scenes to major galleries, this fusion continues to redefine what art can be. #ElectronicMusic #VisualArt #SynesthesiaInArt #JulieMehretu #CarstenNicolai #ArtMarket

Johnny Depp’s PitBull-Boxer terrier Mooh brought joy and light into the lives of the artist and his family. Whether basking in a sunlit majestic poppy field (as painted by Depp) or playing with his children, the canine was a great loss when he departed from this world. Depp’s painting of Mooh, currently exhibited at his ‘A Bunch Of Stuff’ exhibition, reprises the dog’s charming character and Depp’s love for his companion. In fact, Mooh can be seen in the Black Box immersive experience happily bounding through a poppy field, and is printed onto prints, T-shirts and hand-made resin magnets in @jdabunchofstuff’s gift shop and online store. We can even feel his comforting affection in the Mr Mooh and Mini Mooh soft plush toys that are also available for visitors and online customers to take home. As part of our new Art At Home series, we caught up with our Head of Marketing & Merchandise Kim, to discover the inspiration behind the Mooh toy. #JohnnyDepp #JohnnyDeppart #ABunchOfStuff

David Bowie changed the music scene as we know it. But did you know that he was also a painter? Interested in German Expressionism, abstraction, and Postmodernism, Bowie's artwork explored themes of identity and emotion. His Self-Portrait Series (1978–1996) – included haunting depictions of the creative's evolving personas, while Child in Berlin was painted with stark lines and muted tones and was a tribute to his Berlin years. Through his paintbrush, we can see how the icon used music to inspire his art and vice versa. Proving that creativity comes in many forms and an artist can express themselves through multiple facets. Applying some Bowie glitz to this festive season, we've collected a series of quotes from the artist. Which one inspires you the most? #DavidBowie #contemporaryart

Is Edward Scissorhands a Christmas movie? Since its release in 1990, the romantic tale between Kim (Winona Ryder) and Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp) has become a cult favourite. But it wasn't just the fraught romantic plotline or Edward’s snow sculptures which captured viewer's hearts. Spearheaded by director Tim Burton, the film charmed audiences with its stellar casting, striking costumes and set designs. Initially, the director used illustration to carve out his character's personalities and looks. In fact, Depp's iconic costume was inspired by Burton's illustrations of a panic-stricken Edward with chaotic hair and blades for fingers. Depp recently donated his Scissorhands costume to the Design Museum for its current exhibition on Burton. Have you been to see it yet? #TimBurton #EdwardScissorhands #JohnnyDepp #WinonaRyder

One hat does not fit all. The same can be said of these multi-disciplined artists. Best known for their contributions to the music scene, each creative refused to stay in one creative aisle and expressed themselves through various mediums. David Bowie reflected on identity in his paintings, and Joni Mitchell's albums featured some of her prolific self-portrait. Rapper Rammellzee combined the vibrant hip hop scene with abstract painting, and Miles Davis found emotional release in his canvases. Meanwhile, the phenomenal Patti Smith has led an explosively creative life. Her pursuits have leaned into writing, painting, drawing, performance and music. Smith's cross-dimensional artistry embodies the idea of Art Total: A creative process or artwork that combines multiple art forms to create a unified whole. Using numerous mediums and modes of expression, Smith has innovated and injected meaning into the world around her. An actor, director, musician and artist, Johnny Depp has similarly allowed his curiosity and imagination to expand his creative remit. From painting to playing his guitar on tour, Depp believes that artists should not "limit themselves." We couldn't have said it better ourselves. #PattiSmith #MilesDavis #JoniMitchell #DavidBowie #Rammellzee #JohnnyDepp

Since its debut at the San Sebastián Film Festival in September, we have been flying high on ‘Modi - Three Days On The Wing Of Madness’ directed by Johnny Depp. For the ambitious project centred on artist Modigliani, Depp teamed up with award-winning costume designer Penny Rose. From designing a wondrous wardrobe for Madonna in Evita to the iconic costumes in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Rose is known for her eye for detail and imaginative creativity. For Modi, she resurrected the heady world of 1918 Paris. Think of Café Society jazz bars, impoverished bohemian Paris and, of course, Modi’s paint-splattered coat - beloved by actor Riccardo Scarmaccio according to Rose. Following our interview with Modi’s own production designer Dave Warren, we spoke to Rose about her work for the film. You can read both articles on the platform’s blog page, linked in the bio. #SanSebastiánFilmFestival #JohnnyDepp #PennyRose #Modigliani #DaveWarren #PantheonArt #IN2 #Evita #PiratesoftheCarribean #ModiThreeDaysOnTheWingOfMadness #costumedesign #AntoniaDesplat #BeatriceHastings #RiccardoScamarcio #artfilm

Johnny Depp has a constant need to create. This need has seen him draw on seemingly random objects and the nearest surfaces at hand - think of hotel notepads, napkins and even tablecloths. Like Johnny's sketchbook, Rizla papers are always on his person, and it’s unsurprising that they've infiltrated his work. Originally used to mop away dripping pastels, the papers have evolved into an iconic motif and medium. By collaging his canvases with slips of Rizla paper before painting, the artist injects each work with a tangible, sculptural quality. For instance, in the large-scale painting of Marlon Brando, named ‘Marlon’ (2001), Johnny first plastered the canvas with individual Rizla papers and then illustrated Brando's profile onto the textured surface. Over time, the paint caused the papers to peel and curl at the edges; infusing the composition with a tactile fragility. You can now see the painting at the artist’s NYC exhibition ‘A Bunch Of Stuff’. #JohnnyDepp #JohnnyDeppart #MarlonBrando #ABunchOfStuff

Johnny Depp's ‘The Bunnyman’ needs no introduction. As Johnny’s nocturnal guardian, the dream-inspired Bunnyman character was reimagined in 2023 as an NFT artwork, a necklace, a stamp of authenticity, and as part of The Bunnyman Genesis series with Pantheon Art and Castle Fine Art. Since then, its iconic gold-leaf profile has taken on many forms, from engraved jewelry to T-shirts and keychains—now available on the A Bunch Of Stuff online store. Our Bunnyman rings, necklaces, and earrings have become some of our most popular items, and it’s been an incredible journey collaborating with Johnny to bring his literal dream to life. Naturally, some manufacturers have jumped on the Bunnyman trend, reproducing our designs without the official stamp of Depp’s authenticity. In the spirit of protecting the artist's intention for The Bunnyman, we trust our community to celebrate his official design. May The Bunnyman be with you!🐰😎 #JohnnyDepp #JohnnyDeppArt

Modi – Three Days On The Wing Of Madness premiered at 2024’s San Sebastian Film Festival to great acclaim. Its next stop is the Rome Cinema Fest, which just opened its doors today! A bohemian and struggling Expressionist artist in war-torn Paris, Amadeo Modigliani was on the precipice of ending his career in 1916. It’s this exact moment of anguish and self-revelation that actor, director and artist Johnny Depp explores in his new film. Our journalist, Raegan Rubin, caught up with the film’s esteemed Production Designer Dave Warren on Zoom, to find out what went down behind the scenes, and how he helped Johnny’s vision for the film become a reality. Head to our news page to read more. #Modi #JohnnyDepp #SanSebastiánFilmFestival #Modigliani #premier #artfilm #RomeCinemaFest #In2Film
