A political cartoon created by Dr Seuss in 1941 during WW2, many people wanted to avoid Supporting the war efforts claiming the war was going divert money and attention away from the middle class and lower class. This was a talking point was a tactic by the wealthy elites and emerging fascist groups in the U.S. although it sounds appealing, “America First” is smoke and mirrors to isolate the country and reduce spending for humanitarian efforts and assistance inside and outside the country. In the modern day an example would be not wanting the government to fund Medicare, public education, SNAP, international food and medicine donations, and loans for developing nations. Today similar rhetoric is emerging with government officials and online media to scapegoat smaller minority groups (citzens and residents) and blame them for using these programs just like in the past before most of these social programs existed even today these programs have increased economic output. For example, USDA Economic Research Service (ERS) analysis found that during a slowing economy, every $1 billion in SNAP benefits increases U.S. GDP by about $1.54 billion, meaning a multiplier of about 1.5. This also supports tens of thousands of jobs. Futhermore, only around 30% of SNAP recipients stay on it long term, Showing it’s not a burden but an investment for the economy.

#zohranmamdani #democrats #republicans What’s amazing if if his policies, if implemented could be the forefront for the new Democratic establishment showing that workers rights are not just a socialist idea but the mainstream norm in American society most people want things like cheap healthcare and a lower cost of living. Why are we using our taxes for corporate subsidies, and overspending on the military when we could be using those taxes for social spending programs
