We definitely didn’t pay a million dollars for the land… but the view? We just can't get over it! When building our home, we knew two things mattered most: location and the view. You can change almost anything else later, but those two are forever and they add so much value. These are the views from our front door, kitchen sink, living room, and even the master bathroom. Would we do it again? 🏡 Looking back at our last home, there were definitely some things we would 100% do again, and a few things we’d change. From the dreamiest garage doors to flooring we loved, we’re sharing what we’d repeat and what we’re rethinking this time around. -Exterior: We loved White Duck and if we were going white it's perfect, but this time we’re going bold with Urbane Bronze for a moodier vibe. -Garage Doors: Still obsessed with the Clopay Canyon Ridge doors, hoping to use them again, this time painted the same as exterior color. -Interior Wall Color: Pure White was beautiful, but felt a bit stark. We’re leaning warmer this time, still in the white family, just softer. -Cabinetry: We adored our dark Railings cabinets, but for the new house we’re going lighter, think soft green pantry + white oak kitchen. -Floors: Honestly, ADM Sea Smoke was perfect! After so many paint swatches, second guesses, and “what ifs,” we finally chose our new custom exterior color… Urbane Bronze by Sherwin-Williams 🖤🏡 It wasn’t easy and finding the perfect balance between timeless and bold had us spinning for weeks. It’s moody, warm, and grounding and we think it's perfect! We’re going for a look that feels classic and elevated, and we think this rich, earthy tone is going to bring the whole vision to life. The first few weeks of building a house are the most important. This is when everything starts and getting it right is non-negotiable. If you mess up the foundation, it affects everything that comes after. Thanks to our wonderful contractor and team we are moving right along on our new build. Here is our progress from the past week and even though it doesn't look very glamorous, it really is the most important part of the build. 1.📍Placed the home on the lot-We positioned it for the best views, natural light, and flow with the land. 2.🪏Dug the footers – Trenches were dug to support the home’s weight and structure. 3.🧱Poured the footers – Concrete was poured to create a strong, stable base. 4. 📐Marked the corners – Precise layout for foundation blocks ensures everything is square and solid. The foundation is the most critical part of the build, it’s what every wall, roofline, and finish will rely on. Build it right, and everything else can follow.
