Taupo 50k In the beginning I was hopeful but also optimistic. The first quarter was fun, chatty, easy paced. The trail and weather conditions were perfect. Then the lack of training let an old injury flare. It was pain, true pain. I know muscle discomfort, fatigue, and what is not. My poles became crutches, and it was a slow grind up some hills. Downhill I figured out I could do a wide stance with a wide rocking rather than forward stepping helped. Over half of the distance was walked, like a drunk penguin. I didn’t feel tired, or like I was putting in the effort that results in physical exertion, just trying to keep moving through the pain. The finish wasn’t what it usually is, I wasn’t tired, exhausted or felt like I had earned it. But I was relieved. Now to pull my finger out. Get my knee sorted and back to some proper training! #Running #failforward #disciplineovermotivation #
