Pretty Hurts definitely hit differently for me because I know what it feels like to be in a place where living feels harder than you know how to explain. I’ve been the person who struggled with suicidal thoughts, the person who had to fight battles that other people couldn’t see. And when you’ve been in that kind of darkness, certain stories don’t just make you sad. They remind you of a version of yourself you had to fight so hard to survive. This book reminded me that you never really know what someone is carrying behind their smile. Sometimes the people who seem okay are barely holding it together. Sometimes the pain runs so deep that finding the words to explain it feels impossible to do. What hurts most is knowing that people can be suffering silently, wishing somebody would notice, somebody would listen, somebody would make them feel like their presence in this world matters. I wish I could go back and hug the version of me who didn’t know if things would ever get better. I wish I could tell that person that the pain wasn’t the whole story, that there was still a life waiting on the other side of those dark days. I’m still here. And that means something to me that others will never understand. I needed to read this book. #bookreview #life #bookish #booktok #fyp 💔
