Technical practice shouldn’t be about hitting as many balls as possible. It should be about giving yourself the best possible opportunity to feel, exaggerate, and understand the movement you’re trying to change. Think of it like a set in the gym. You don’t just throw 20 reps together and hope the movement improves. You lock in for a few minutes and make every rep intentional. That’s exactly how I want to approach technical practice. Rep 1: Break the movement down. No ball. Just brush the ground and exaggerate the feel. Rep 2: Build on that feel with a broken-up half shot. Rep 3: Start with the same feel, then allow the movement to flow into a fuller swing with the ball. The goal isn’t to hit more shots. The goal is to make each repetition more accurate with your movement intention. When you treat technical practice like this, you give yourself a much better opportunity to get the most out of the time you have. Quality of practice > quantity of practice.

Alignment shouldn’t feel like a checklist. It should feel like a 3-foot putt. When you stand over a short putt, you’re not consciously checking your shoulders, hips, and feet — you just feel square. You trust it and go. That’s the target for full-swing alignment too: not a mechanical routine you run through every time, but an intuitive sense of “this is neutral” that fires automatically. Here’s the catch — that intuition isn’t born, it’s built. If you never train your setup with real feedback (mirrors, alignment sticks, a coach’s eye), your “feels square” can quietly drift into “feels comfortable but is actually 5° open.” The putt only feels automatic because you’ve rolled thousands of them and your brain calibrated the feel against the actual result. So simplify the thought — one cue, one feeling, just like the putt. But don’t skip the reps that make that feeling trustworthy. Train it until your intuition and your intention are telling you the same thing. Simple isn’t the same as untrained. It’s what training earns you. ⛳

Comment ‘CONTROL’ and I’ll send you 3 Short Game Drills and give you first access to my upcoming PUTTING SERIES!!! A lot of the breakdown in putting for amateur golfers can be solved by improving set up. Now while there are obviously several proven ways to successfully hold a putter, the framework I explain in this coaching video will work well for a traditional grip.

Comment ‘REPS’ and I’ll send you 3 Drills to Simplify Your Swing!!! Understanding how to properly release your arms and club is one of the most important principles in a golf swing. Most people fail to release the speed that they may have stored up in the backswing, leading to shorter shots and often more wayward shots. Those who don’t release, will typically be players who swing more over the top and cut across the ball. Beyond the performance benefits, training in the correct movement of the lead arm through the downswing will help prevent the dreaded chicken wing and common golfers elbow issues as well! Send this to someone you know that has a chicken 🐓 wing!!!

Low Point is one of the 4 Pillars of Ball Striking. With improvements in low point we will always see more consistent contact and better results. With Quality of Strike being as a top priority, we should have the ability to predict where our divot is going to occur when we are executing a simpler task of a practice swing. Whether you’re a single digit or a 30hdcp, training low point is always beneficial. ———————————————————————— If you want to start improving your game, join my inner-circle on (the link is in my bio). Developing a simple one piece takeaway involves removing unnecessary arm movements in the start of the backswing. Speed control is the top priority on putts outside of 10 feet. Statistically speaking, we’re not going to make much outside that range. Therefore, focusing all our efforts on the direction is often somewhat of a distraction. Learn to simplify your focus to purely distance on these putts and see how your three putts disappear.
