This is where the story begins. Wrapped in « shadda », walking the streets of Kensington with a bag that’s crossed borders and carried generations. It’s not just fabric, not just fashion, it’s memory. A market sound. A family house. A mosque's call. Even here, thousands of miles away, I carry the rhythm of the motherland in my body, clothes and art. This is how the motherland lives on ; in the details. "Echoes of the Motherland" is a visual love letter to home, inspired by my neighborhood in Chad and reimagined through the streets of Toronto.
