ᴘᴀʀᴇɴᴛ ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ ✴︎ ( 482 words: ~1:50 min read ) It’s been a week since I, by a miracle, found Tommy again and told him I was pregnant with his child. Now I’m at his house for the severalth time this week and I still can’t shake the guilt of this whole situation. I’m sat on a stool at his kitchen island counter when I ask him out of nowhere, “Are you sure you’ve thought about this enough?” as he cooks us breakfast burritos for dinner. “This is a life sentence, Tommy.” He drops what he’s doing and turns the range to low. Then me turns to me only to stare at the ground as he seemingly thinks of what to say. Which while I’m glad he’s taking his time answering. It’s still scaring the shit out of me. As much as I want him to have the choice and freedom to do what is best for him. I want him to be a part of this. I want to have a partner in the least to do this with. But I’d love most for it to be him. He let’s out what can’t accurately be described as a sigh, it’s more of a soft breath out as he tells me, “I’ve never been more sure of a difficult decision in my life.” And as much as hearing that relives the anxiety of having to do this on my own. Nothing crazy, nothing I haven’t done before. Yet it was always debilitating with him. I didn’t understand it for the longest time. How was thirty minutes to an hour leaving me in an almost catatonic state for another twenty when I’ve done this plenty of other times with other people no issue? And then he says it, “Oh Dior, you look intoxicating like this.” And I notice the switch to mush that occurs in my brain. How my body no longer thinks of what to do next and instead just moves with Tommy. Letting the current take me where I need to go. I can’t think thoughts that aren’t swears that accidentally slip out of my mouth instead, or near drunk internal ramblings on how pretty he looks. He drives me stupid with his words, his voice, and his touch. And I just take it. Because it’s nice to let him have this control over me. Not in a domineering way. But to allow myself to be affected by him when most other people get a pent up, hard edged, serious business version of me. I let it all wash over me. Not only the pleasure I’m receiving. But the pleasure of letting go, of trusting Tommy enough to put my comfort in his hands as I give every real part of me to him to hold. My favorite part of all of this is the aftermath. Those twenty minutes of a near catatonic state where Tommy sits with me, doesn’t expect anything from me as he talks my ear off, studies me like he’s planning to paint me from memory later, or just dotes on me. Truth be told, after this long, I don’t think I ever will. Because it is always laced with something. Want or need. Playfulness and teasing. And in this instance, it was borderline euphoric seeing him smirk as he told me, “I like that you’re tall, means you’re closer to my lips,” after I shared how it felt my height affected my prospects with men.
