My what if’s in figure skating pt.3 1. What if Sasha landed another jump instead of 3A? 2. What if Anna got proper edge on all of her flips and lutz? 3. What is Adeliya successfully landed all her quads at Milano Cortina? 4. What if Adeliya Never got injured before Milano Cortina? 5. What if Sasha landed her 4T+3T in the free skate Beijing? 6. What if Kamila skated Bolero cleanly in Beijing? 7. What if Yuna retired after Vancouver didn’t go to Sochi? 8. What if the Zagitova rule was there before 2018? 9. What if Evgenia went to Orser before 2018? 10. What if Alena didn’t lose her 3A? #figureskating

Oh how happy I was when she won. #alexandratrusova #sofiasamodelkina #figureskating #fyp The story of elite figure skating is defined by those who refuse to accept the sport's traditional boundaries, opting instead to entirely rewrite its laws. In this landscape, Alexandra "Sasha" Trusova (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fg%2F11f06lpt8v&q=Alexandra+%22Sasha%22+Trusova) and Sofia Samodelkina (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fg%2F11rgggnsf9&q=Sofia+Samodelkina) stand out as iconic figures. Known globally for their jaw-dropping technical arsenals, fearless athletic ambition, and complex competitive journeys, these two skaters have continually challenged expectations. Trusova, the trailblazing pioneer whose name will forever be synonymous with the "quad revolution," laid down a blueprint for extreme athleticism that younger talents like Samodelkina eagerly followed. Despite facing intense systemic shifts, geographical migrations, and the inevitable obstacles of physical maturity, both athletes have managed to maintain a deep mutual respect and an enduring legacy on the global stage. The Architect of the Revolution: Sasha Trusova To understand the dynamic between these two generational talents, one must first look at the legacy of Alexandra Trusova. Hailed as the "Quad Queen" and the "Russian Rocket," Trusova quite literally altered the evolutionary trajectory of women's singles skating. Before her arrival on the international junior scene, quadruple jumps were considered the exclusive domain of men’s figure skating. Female skaters who attempted them were outliers, and historical success rates were microscopic. Trusova dismantled this consensus. Training under the demanding tutelage of Eteri Tutberidze, she became the first woman to land the quadruple Lutz, the quadruple flip, and the quadruple toe loop in international competition. Trusova’s philosophy was simple yet radical: maximum technical difficulty. She prioritized the thrill of athletic conquest over safety, constantly packing her free skates with as many quad jumps as physically possible. This high-risk strategy culminated in a historic performance at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Skating to an intense "Cruella" soundtrack, Trusova did what no woman had ever achieved before, successfully landing five quadruple jumps in a single free program. Though she ultimately walked away with the silver medal rather than the gold, the sheer impact of her technical feat reverberated across the world. The Challenger and Disciple: Sofia Samodelkina As Trusova was laying the groundwork for the modern era, a younger generation was watching intently. Sofia Samodelkina, born in 2007, emerged as one of the most promising young prodigies capable of matching the technical standards set by the Quad Queen. As a junior competitor, Samodelkina quickly earned a reputation for possessing immense raw power, massive jump height, and soft, clean landings. She belonged to the rare class of "Ultra-C" athletes, consistently demonstrating that she could land both the triple Axel and multiple variations of quadruple jumps in her programs. However, Samodelkina’s career path was heavily complicated by the shifting geopolitical reality of figure skating. With international bans isolating Russian skaters from the global circuit, she faced a painful choice: remain trapped in a hyper-competitive domestic vacuum or search for an alternate route to fulfill her lifelong dreams. Choosing the path of resilience, Samodelkina underwent a dramatic transition, changing her sports citizenship to represent Kazakhstan.
