🦯🤖 DID YOU KNOW? MEET GLIDE! Blind & low-vision community, have you heard of Glide? Glide is a smart mobility device designed to help people who are blind or have low vision navigate their surroundings. It’s another example of how assistive technology continues to evolve! 💬 Q&A: Would you consider using Glide for everyday travel? Would you feel comfortable trying a smart mobility device, or do you prefer your traditional white cane or guide dog? 👇🏾 Let’s talk! 🏋🏾♀️ ACCESSIBLE FITNESS RESOURCES After our discussion about staying active, I wanted to share two fitness resources designed with blind and low-vision users in mind. 🎧 ReVision Fitness Provides detailed audio instruction that teaches you how to perform an exercise first, so you can understand the movement before getting into the workout. 💪🏾 BlindAlive – Eyes-Free Fitness Offers descriptive audio workouts that don’t depend on watching an instructor. Workouts include yoga, Pilates, sculpting, cardio and more. This is why accessibility matters! A workout shouldn’t require someone to constantly hear: “Watch me.” “Do it like this.” “Look at my form.” Good audio description can explain exactly what the body should be doing. 👇🏾 Blind and low-vision fitness friends: Have you tried either of these? And if you have another accessible workout app or program you love, drop it in the comments so others can find it too! ❤️ #BlindFitness #AccessibleFitness #BlindCommunity #LowVision #creatorsearchinsights

🦯❤️ LET'S TALK! BEFORE ACCESSIBILITY BECAME WHAT IT IS TODAY!🦯❤️ LET’S TALK! WERE WE MORE RESOURCEFUL BEFORE MODERN ACCESSIBILITY? Blind and low-vision community, I have a question for you! Do you think we managed everyday life better before so much accessible technology became available? Think about it! Before smartphones, screen readers, AI technology, GPS navigation, and all the accessible apps we have today, blind and low-vision individuals were still working, raising families, traveling, cooking, shopping, and living independently! Many relied on Braille, memory, orientation and mobility skills, tactile markings, talking devices, and their own creative ways of getting things done. Now we have technology that can read printed information, describe objects, provide directions, and help with everyday tasks. But here’s what I’m curious about! 🤔 Did we become more independent with accessibility, or were we more resourceful before it? 🦯 For those who remember life before today’s technology, how did you manage everyday activities? ❤️ Are there skills you used back then that you don’t use as much today? 📱 And for our younger generation, could you manage without the accessibility tools you depend on today? I’m not saying accessibility is a bad thing. It’s opened doors and created opportunities that weren’t available to everyone before. I just want to hear your experiences! 💬 LET’S TALK! HOW WAS LIFE BEFORE ALL THIS TECHNOLOGY? #blind #BlindCommunity #LowVision #creatorsearchinsights #livingwithvisionimpairment

🦯❤️ LET’S TALK! ARE YOU MASKING YOUR VISION LOSS? Have you ever pretended you could see something when you really couldn’t? Well, there’s a name for hiding parts of your disability to fit in. It’s often called masking, or sometimes passing as sighted. For some blind and low-vision individuals, masking may look like: 👀 Pretending to recognize someone they can’t clearly see. 🦯 Avoiding a white cane because they don’t want others knowing about their vision loss. 📱 Laughing along or nodding when someone shows them something they can’t see. ❤️ Making excuses instead of explaining why they need assistance. But here’s something interesting! Research shows that some people conceal their vision loss to avoid judgment, unwanted attention, or being treated differently. And while masking may help someone navigate certain social situations, constantly hiding a disability can take emotional and mental effort. LET’S TALK ABOUT IT! 🦯 Have you ever masked your blindness or low vision? 🤔 Do you think people hide their vision loss because they’re uncomfortable with it, or because of how society treats them? ❤️ Have you ever felt relieved when you finally told someone about your vision? Remember, choosing when to disclose your disability is personal. Nobody owes everyone an explanation! #masking #Blind #LowVision #creatorsearchinsights #livingwithvisionimpairment

🦯❤️ LET’S TALK! ARE SMART GLASSES GETTING A BAD REPUTATION? Did you know that AI smart glasses are creating a major conversation about privacy and accessibility? Some people are concerned about being recorded without their knowledge or permission. And those concerns deserve attention! But here’s the other side of the conversation! For individuals who are blind or have low vision, smart glasses can help read printed information, identify objects, describe surroundings, and support everyday independence. Now imagine technology that helps someone live more independently becoming harder to access because other people misuse it! Here’s the question: Can we protect people’s privacy without taking away technology that helps people with disabilities? 💬 Q&A FOR MY COMMUNITY! 🦯 Blind and low-vision friends, do you use AI smart glasses? How have they helped you? 🤔 Sighted friends, would you feel uncomfortable around someone wearing camera-equipped glasses? ❤️ Should companies improve privacy protections instead of restricting the technology? Let’s have a respectful conversation! I want to hear BOTH sides! #CBTheSightBraillist #Blind #MetaSmartGlasses #AccessibilityMatters #creatorsearchinsights

🦯❤️ DID YOU KNOW? COMMUNICATION BEYOND SIGHT AND SOUND! Did you know that Deafblind individuals can communicate using several different methods, depending on their preferences and access needs? People of this community uses a communication system that allows someone to type on a keyboard while she reads the message on a refreshable Braille display! Pretty amazing, right? Other Deafblind individuals may use tactile sign language, print-on-palm, assistive listening technology, or other communication methods. Deafblindness doesn’t mean a person cannot communicate. It means communication may look and feel different! 💬 LET’S TALK! 🦯 Have you ever communicated with someone who is Deafblind? ❤️ Were you aware that Braille technology could support real-time conversations? 🤔 What could businesses and public places do to make communication more accessible? #blind #deaf #DeafblindAwareness #creatorsearchinsights #deafblind

🦯❤️ LET’S TALK FITNESS! CAN YOU DANCE WITHOUT SEEING THE MOVES? Have you ever attended a dance or fitness class where the instructor says, “Just watch me!”? Well, what happens when you can’t see the instructor? Blind and low-vision individuals can learn choreography through verbal descriptions, counting beats, directional cues, repetition, and, when welcomed, hands-on guidance. Whether it’s Zumba, salsa, line dancing, or another fitness class, accessibility shouldn’t stop at the gym door! An instructor who explains movements clearly can make a huge difference. 💬 Q&A FOR MY BLIND AND LOW-VISION COMMUNITY! 💃 Have you ever taken a dance or group fitness class? 🎶 How do you learn new moves without watching the instructor? ❤️ What could fitness instructors do differently to make their classes more accessible? Let’s talk about movement, music, and making fitness available to everyone! #braille #AccessibleFitness #BlindCommunity #blind #lowvision

🦯❤️ LET’S TALK! DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE DONE QUICKLY? Have you ever felt rushed because you needed a little extra time to complete something? Whether it’s reading Braille, navigating an unfamiliar environment, using assistive technology, or simply processing information, some tasks may take longer. But here’s something worth thinking about! Taking more time doesn’t mean someone is less intelligent, less capable, or less independent. Sometimes accessibility means allowing people to move, communicate, and complete tasks at their own pace without judgment. 💬 Q&A FOR MY BLIND AND LOW-VISION COMMUNITY! 🦯 Have you ever felt pressured to hurry because of your vision loss? ❤️ How do you handle people who become impatient? 🤔 Do you think society places too much importance on doing everything quickly? Let’s talk about it! #CBTheSightBraillist #BlindCommunity #LowVision #creatorsearchinsights #livingwithvisionimpairment

🦯❤️ DID YOU KNOW? LET’S TALK ABOUT STARGARDT DISEASE! Did you know that people living with Stargardt disease are often advised to be careful with vitamin A supplements? Stargardt disease is an inherited eye condition that affects the retina and can cause progressive central vision loss. Here’s something interesting! 👀 Vitamin A is important for normal vision, but taking more than the recommended daily amount in supplements may be harmful for individuals with Stargardt disease. Now, what about retinol in skincare products? Retinol is a form of vitamin A commonly found in anti-aging products. However, research hasn’t established whether applying retinol to the skin worsens Stargardt disease. That’s why it’s important to speak with a retinal specialist before making decisions about vitamin A products. 💬 Q&A FOR MY BLIND AND LOW-VISION COMMUNITY! 🦯 Are you living with Stargardt disease? 🤔 Were you ever advised to avoid vitamin A supplements or certain skincare ingredients? ❤️ What advice has your eye specialist given you? 🦯🧠 LET’S TALK: THE EXHAUSTION NOBODY SEES! Blind & low-vision community, have you ever felt completely exhausted even though you haven’t done much physically? Well, did you know there’s actual research connecting vision loss and fatigue? Studies have found that people with visual impairments may experience greater fatigue because certain everyday activities require additional concentration and mental effort. Think about navigating unfamiliar places, processing information, using your remaining vision, dealing with glare, or simply trying to accomplish daily tasks. Sometimes the exhaustion isn’t physical. It’s MENTAL! And here’s something important: Rest is not laziness, and independence doesn’t mean you have to do everything without taking a break. ❤️ You deserve time to recharge without feeling guilty about it. 💬 Q&A: Have you ever experienced mental fatigue related to your blindness or low vision? How do you know when you’ve reached your limit? And what helps you recharge? 👇🏾 Let’s talk! Would navigation be easier? Would accessibility become the standard instead of an afterthought? 💬 Q&A: If you were the developer of your favorite app, what is the FIRST thing you would change to make it more accessible? WHY BLINDNESS AWARENESS MONTH MATTERS October is Blindness Awareness Month, and awareness is about more than simply knowing that blindness and low vision exist. It matters because accessibility matters. Independence matters. Braille literacy matters. Accessible technology matters. Equal opportunities in education and employment matter. And the voices and experiences of blind and low-vision people matter. This month is an opportunity to educate, advocate, challenge misconceptions, and create more accessible spaces where people who are blind or have low vision can live, learn, work, travel, and thrive. 🦯 Awareness opens the door. Accessibility makes inclusion possible. Blind & low-vision community: What do you want others to understand about blindness this month? ❤️ #BlindnessAwarenessMonth #BlindCommunity #LowVision #Accessibility #creatorsearchinsights
