🚨 UPDATE – CLAYTON COUNTY POLICE OFFICER STRUCK / DRAGGED DURING TRAFFIC STOP 🚨 There is some good news tonight regarding the Clayton County Police officer who was injured earlier today. The officer was conducting a traffic stop around 2:15 p.m. near Garden Walk Boulevard and Medical Center Drive in Riverdale when the driver reportedly took off, dragging the officer alongside the vehicle. The officer was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with injuries to the head and body. Thankfully, those injuries have been reported as non-life-threatening. Authorities have now located the suspect vehicle, but the driver remains AT LARGE. The U.S. Marshals Service is assisting Clayton County Police in the search for the suspect. As of tonight, the suspect’s identity and description have not been publicly released. This could have ended much worse. Another officer simply doing his job, and another reminder of how quickly a routine traffic stop can turn into a life-or-death situation. 🚨 CURRAN MELANSON HAS BEEN ARRESTED 🚨 After weeks of waiting, 28-year-old Curran Melanson was arrested at his Hartford home in connection with the crash that killed our brother, tow operator Alexander “Alex” Ramos. Melanson now faces charges including second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and failure to slow down or move over. Alex was only 26 years old. He was a husband, a father, a son, a friend, and a tow operator who was simply doing his job when his life was taken on September 8, 2026. An arrest will never bring Alex home. It will never give his children their father back. It will never erase the pain his family and friends have been forced to live with. But today, the Ramos family is one step closer to seeing this case answered in a courtroom. 🚨 HAINES CITY POLICE OFFICER FIRED AFTER DUI ARREST WHILE DRIVING DEPARTMENT PATROL VEHICLE 🚨 You really can’t make this stuff up. Former Haines City Police Officer Joseph Everett was arrested in Orange County on charges of DUI and reckless driving while reportedly OFF DUTY but behind the wheel of a marked Haines City Police Department patrol vehicle. Everett had only been with Haines City Police since July 2026. Following the arrest, Chief Isaac Jackson terminated Everett’s employment, calling the alleged conduct a serious violation of department standards and expressing deep disappointment in his judgment and professionalism. And here’s the part that should make everyone pay attention: Reports indicate Everett provided breath samples of 0.266 and 0.265. Florida’s legal limit is 0.08. A badge does not give anyone immunity from accountability. Police officers spend every day dealing with the destruction caused by impaired drivers. They see the crashes. They see the injuries. They notify families when somebody isn’t coming home. So when someone entrusted with enforcing those laws allegedly makes the decision to drive that impaired, especially in a MARKED POLICE VEHICLE, there has to be accountability. Cheryl lost her son, Jacob Allen Marquis, after he was killed while working along Interstate 40. This Saturday, Jacob’s name will be placed on the Wall of the Fallen. Paul is grateful beyond words that this organization brought Cheryl into his life. But the truth is, he wishes they had never met. Not under these circumstances. Not because Cheryl had to bury her son. Not because another family was forced into a club that nobody ever asks to join. Slow Down Move Over Inc. was born from tragedy as well. Paul started this organization after his mentor, Toby Bowden, was killed while doing the job he loved. Since then, Paul has met some incredible people across this country. Families. Tow operators. According to information from the California Highway Patrol Incident Log, the original collision was reported at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. By around 12:50 a.m., the incident had been upgraded to a fatality investigation.
