IMO JFA is the original skate punk band. Here’s an OG copy of their first 7” with such an iconic cover. #skatepunk #punkrock #skateboarding #hardcorepunk #JFA

I received a surprise visit from Christmas 2024 today. My wife uncovered a record that she had bought for me back then but for whatever reason forgot to give it to me. My lucky day. Loving this album by the great #joaodonato #donato #musicabrasileira #bossanova #vinyltok

Anyone remember the film #legrandbleu by #lucbesson starring Jean Reno and Rosanna Arquette #bandeoriginale #musiquedefilm #soundtrack

Could it be that I was turned on to #MCM aesthetic from the 2nd Specials album, More Specials? #specials #thespecials #2tone #ska

I’m generally uninterested in guitar solos, but the ones that get me excited are fairly uncomplicated and full of distortion. Must have been another influence on me by #thevelvetunderground #loureed #sterlingmorrison #vinyltok #goat

My wife often reminds me of the genius that is the #beegees and this song does it for me. That groove. What’s crazy about this album is that it was their 15th record and produced 3 number singles. #soulmusic #disco #vinyl #70smusic

Loving this collaboration between #samanthaschmutz and #adrianyounge Brazilian global soul at its best #soulmusic #mpb #musicabrasileira

Hong Kong pop circa 1970s. The artist is Unknown (to me.) anyone know who it is? Random cassette I picked up somewhere along the road. #cantonesemusic #chinesemusic #hongkong #cassettetape #cassette

I love this version of Astral Plane from the 77 #modernlovers lineup of Asa, D. sharpe, Leroy and #jonathanrichman this was not on the Live album that was released at the time and maybe only available on this 7”? Not sure. #astralplane #vinyltok #vinylcollection

You may recall the leading track off of #thespecials 2 album with their cover of Enjoy Yourself. This version is not from Coventry, but by Wisconsin’s own Howie Sturtz and the Grassland Butter Orchestra. On the liner notes we learn that “this time we moved into a recording studio and cut this one in Stereo. This was, you can enjoy every single mistake!” Recorded in 1966. #vinyltok #ska #supperclub #oldfashioned

All of these videos of Mike Love are really sad to watch. Rather than getting into that, I’ll just pull out the first Beach Boys record that I ever bought. I was probably 10 years old at the time and somehow I still have this copy in all its worn and surface noise beauty. The song Lana is a forgotten gem off of an exceptional album that also features several surf instrumentals. #thebeachboys #mikelove #brianwilson #vinylrecords #60smusic

It was #tourekunda and #salifkeita who first made me flip out for African music back in the 80s. The Toure brothers from the casamance region of Senegal mixed traditional rhythms with reggae, Afro funk, jazz and pop into a big sound. Their live album is one not be missed. #africanmusic #vinylrecords #vinyltok

I dig #bingcrosby but this record is wackadoodle. #capitolrecords #vinyltok #recordcollection #vinylrecords

My copy of #descendents Two Things At Once cassette from 1986. This combined Milo Goes To College with the Bonus Fat ep. I was going to play Mr Bass which is arguably the first punk song written about fishing, but opted for I Like Food. Food and coffee have been a common theme in their songs over the years and this one is a classic. #punkrock #hardcorepunk #cassettetape #cassettecollection

This compilation of songs by #ivanlins is solid in terms of song selection but the song quality of the vinyl varies from song to song. Admittedly this song has pretty poor audio but the tune itself is great so I recorded it anyway. #musicabrasileira #mpb #vinyl #worldmusic

Shipped a few weeks ago and tracking still showed that it had not been scanned since Algeria. It happily arrived today! Lots of 7”s from the Maghreb. Rai, proto Rai, Chabbi, Andalusian classical, Moroccan folk, Kabyle etc…. #arabicmusic #vinyl #45tours #vinyltok #worldmusic

Call of the Valley is a truly special and entrancing album of Indian classical music. Released in 1968 this album brought together 3 musicians all with unique instruments. Santoor - which is a 100 string hammer dulcimer style instrument is played by Shivkumar Sharma. Brijbhushan Kabra plays a guitar that is similar to Hawaiian slack key but tuned for Indian scales. Hariprasad chaurusia plays a traditional bamboo flute. My apologies for the snap crackle and pops on this record. I brought it back from India and it has seen some time. The top edge of the sleeve had become unglued and it was literally stapled back together. #indianmusic #india #traditionalmusic #vinylrecords #worldmusic

One of my other hats is selling vintage and antiques. Of course a few records too. I’m doing a flea market today in Madison WI outside of Atomic Antiques. Atomic is a great antique mall here and I also have a booth there. If you’re in the area check it out. Flea goes until 4, but all weekend the store itself will be having a big anniversary sale. Follow me @Nomadic Grill + Home if you dig vintage stuff. #fleamarket #fleamarketfinds #antiques #vinyl #madisonwi

Kind of a bummer when your video gets muted when all you were trying to do is pay tribute to a legend who had just passed away. So it goes with my original post on #mightysparrow he passed away today at age 91 and he will be missed by all of those who loved his mastery of #calypso #trinidad #vinyltok #vinylrecords
