If you haven't heard the name Lindsay Clancy it would certainly shock me. In 2023 Clancy took her 3 young children to the basement of her home and killed them. Her claim is that suffering from a severe case of post Parton Depression and hearing voices are what instructed her to carry out this devastating act. She is now in court for her trial in which although she has not denied her actions the choice in the trial is either 3 counts of premeditated murder or be found mentally incompetent of her actions on that day due to the many different psychotrophic medications she was taking. So her jury was oathed and this was the speech the trial judge gave them. He's basically telling them the importance of their vote in a trial. Had I saw a case like this six or seven years ago I would have wanted to go after her myself. However I have admitted to myself due to some really dark and difficult times mentally over the last few years that I, too, struggle with mental health also. It's almost a prison that you're in inside your head that you don't know how to get out of. I've tried a few of the medications prescribed to me but they made things worse for me so I chose not to take any. It's a struggle everyday. Granted I never had any thoughts as dark as doing anything to my loved ones and I've never really experienced postpartum or maybe I did and didn't realize. That I don't know. But I do know what it's like to be confused and having thoughts that you don't want to have. I don't really have a side per se in this case as far as a decision goes but I am able now through my own experience with mental health to have compassion for her. Look for your purpose for the day!!! EVERYONE HAS ONE!!! I remember when my oldest daughter was little maybe about 7 or 8 I think. We went to a Taco Bell for lunch and she would love for me to hand her the money and allow her to pay the cashier. The young cashier looked so troubled and sad. I gave my daughter the money to do what she so enjoyed doing. I couldn't hear the exact words my daughter said to her but the cashier just got the biggest most sincere smile on her face and tears in her eyes as she handed my daughter her cup. As my daughter ran off to fix her drink she'd forgotten to get the change. As I walked to the counter to retrieve it the teenager looked at me and told me my daughter told her that she was beautiful and important. She then went on to tell me that the smile my daughter gave her was the first in weeks and that she'd been contemplating suicide because she just didn't want to be here any longer. Said my daughter had just made her see different. Just as I am while writing this I had to fight back tears at what my baby girl had just done without even realizing it.
