Did you know turnip carving was the original Halloween tradition in Ireland? 🎃 We brought Dublin historian Jane Casey into the Tesco kitchen to whip up a Roasted Pumpkin Cheese Fondue while serving up some spooky Irish folklore 👻 Fun Fact: Long before pumpkins, people in Ireland carved turnips and parsnips into creepy faces to ward off evil spirits during the harvest. Cheese Fondue in Pumpkin 🧀: Hollow out the pumpkin and season the inside with salt and pepper. Rub the outside with a little oil, then roast at 170-180°C for about 45 minutes, until tender. Melt your favourite cheese mixture in a pot with a glass of white wine, garlic, mustard, and cornflour. Pour the hot cheese fondue directly into your roasted pumpkin. Serve with warm crusty bread and enjoy! Save this for your ultimate Halloween party starter!

In 2014, Tesco became the first retailer in Ireland to partner nationally with FoodCloud and more recently Olio. Since then, over 24 million meals worth of surplus food have been donated to local community groups and homes across Ireland! Every evening, colleagues log surplus food that’s still perfectly good to eat through FoodCloud so local community groups and Olio food waste heroes can collect and redistribute it where it’s needed most. Because sharing food beats wasting food every single time. That’s Every Little Helps 💙
