I’m no stranger to The Dalles House Restaurant and Lounge, it’s one of my all-time favorite supper clubs! I just finally thought to capture a video this time. ❤️ The classic red furniture, cozy atmosphere, and crooner-style music are everything I love about a supper club. And the popovers? SO good. They serve them with homemade butter in different rotating flavors, and I always look forward to seeing what’s on the table. The smoked salmon dip is another favorite, and we’ve tried the frog legs before, which are a fun appetizer if you’re feeling adventurous! The steak is great, too. I’ve never had a bad meal. The real star of the show, though, is the bread pudding. They make it with the popovers. Absolutely fantastic and my favorite way to end a meal here. 😍 There’s also a lounge side for a more casual evening, complete with a stage where they often host live music. One of those places I’m always happy to come back to. Especially when popovers and bread pudding are involved. 🤍 Tonight we spent our anniversary dinner here and our waitress, Lana, was fantastic! Using only 2 ingredients these were so easy to make and sure are cute! Simply cut off both ends of the string cheese. I used @crystalfarmscheese s and pushed a @rold.gold pretzel stick into the top. Carefully cut vertically along the entire length of the cheese. Once the cheese is cut, fan it out. 🥣SOUP SUNDAY 🥣 WONTON SOUP It’s finally the “ber” months, which means Sundays are for soup around our house! In a pot, sauté ginger, garlic, and scallions in olive oil. Add the chicken broth, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and baby bok choy; bring to a boil and then turn heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the shrimp and corn starch mixed with 1/4 cup water (this will thicken the broth) and bring back to a boil. Add the wontons and boil for about 4 min.. 📍Crosswinds Farm | Kenyon MN @Crosswinds Farm is located about an hour south of the Twin Cities. This organic farm has the cutest little shop filled with thoughtfully selected, non-toxic products. You’ll find everything from farm-fresh eggs and meat to skincare products, imported goods from Italy and so much more. I picked up cheese (obviously), filets, homemade granola, ground beef and several other goodies. The owner was an absolute joy and made our visit even more special. They also host events at the farm, so I’ll definitely be watching for those! The shop is currently open Fridays from 1–6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Make a day of your visit and explore some of the charming small towns along the way. The @Hubbell House Supper Club in Mantorville is one of Minnesota’s oldest continuously operating restaurants, serving guests in a historic building originally constructed in 1854 and it has exactly the kind of atmosphere I look for in a supper club! The walls are filled with historic memorabilia, which I always love taking the time to look at. They were also playing SiriusXM’s Seriously Sinatra station over the speakers, earning them another gold star in my book. 🎶 As for the food, we tried the combo appetizer which was onion rings (YUM) and cheese curds (look at that cheese pull 😬) as well as seafood toast, which was phenomenal! The salads were great, with finely chopped lettuce and a really good house dressing. For dinner, I had the filet with a baked potato, while my husband ordered the special: ribeye oscar with loaded mashed potatoes. We were so full that plenty of food came home with us! We couldn’t help ourselves and just had to taste test it all! 😂 This was my first time visiting Mantorville, so afterward we walked around town and stopped in two adorable antique shops (with the kindest owners). SOUP SUNDAY: Hidden Veggie Soup🥣🥕🧅🥔 Start by sautéing carrots, celery, onion and garlic. Then add potatoes and cauliflower and lastly chicken broth. Bring soup to a boil and then cook on medium for about a half hour. Transfer to a blender and blend together (or if you have an immersion blender that would work too). Pour into bowl and top with green onions and bacon. This soup is so creamy and delicious, you would think heavy cream was used. 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 yellow onion 2-3 carrots 2-3 celery 2 garlic cloves salt and pepper to taste 1 small head of cauliflower 1 bag of small bite size potatoes 4-8 cups chicken broth (enough to cover the veggies) Green onion + chopped bacon for garnish #soup #recipe #soupseason #cozyseason #comfortfood
