Can you dip your finger into water without getting it wet? All you need is cinnamon and water for this fun little science experiment! The cinnamon floats on the surface, helping demonstrate surface tension and how some materials repel water. Such a simple activity to try with your kids at home or in the classroom! #homeschoolmom #scienceexperiments #everydayscience #scienceforkids #homeschoolersoftiktok

Sometimes the simplest activities are the most fun! Try this colorful bubble snake experiment with your kids! All you need is a plastic bottle, a wet wipe, food color, dish soap, and water. The science: Blowing air through the soapy wet wipe creates hundreds of tiny bubbles! Soap lowers water’s surface tension, helping the bubbles form and stack together into a colorful bubble snake. #scienceexperiments #homeschoolmom #kidsactivity #learningthroughplay #scienceathome

If your kids are obsessed with magnetic tiles, you have to show them this! Turn their magnetic tiles into a colorful light and shadow experiment using just your phone light! It’s such a simple way to explore light, color, and shadows. Save this for the next time your kids pull out the magnetic tiles! #magnetictiles #scienceexperiments #homeschoolmom #kidsactivity #learningthroughplay

This simple density experiment makes the science so easy to see! Layer liquids with different densities, then drop in different objects and watch where they settle. An object will sink through liquids that are less dense than it and stop when it reaches a layer dense enough to support it. Such a fun hands-on way to explore density at home! #homeschoolmom #scienceforkids #scienceathome #density #scienceexperiments

One drop of rubbing alcohol on oil creates the coolest patterns! We even took a closer look with our handheld microscope. As the alcohol evaporates, differences in surface tension drive the liquid’s movement. This is called the Marangoni effect, and it helps the spreading drop break into tiny droplets! To try it: • Pour a shallow layer of vegetable oil onto a clean, dry plate. • Mix rubbing alcohol with liquid food coloring. Green showed up much more clearly than red when we tried it! • Gently add one drop of the mixture to the oil and watch! For an extra science challenge, compare it with a drop of colored water. What changes? Adult handling of rubbing alcohol. Use in a ventilated area away from flames and heat. Our handheld microscope is linked in my bio. #homeschoolmom #scienceexperiments #scienceforkids #scienceathome #handsonlearning

What does rising blue water have to do with thunderstorms? This simple experiment makes convection visible! Warm water is less dense than cold water, so it rises and carries heat with it. In the atmosphere, warm, moist air can rise and cool, allowing water vapor to condense into cloud droplets. Under the right conditions, those clouds can grow into thunderstorms! Try it: • Fill a small heat-safe container to the brim with warm water and blue food coloring. • Cover the opening securely with foil. • Carefully lower it into a larger container of cold water. • Poke a hole in the foil and watch the blue rise! Save this for your next hands-on science day! #homeschoolmom #scienceexperiments #handsonlearning #scienceforkids #scienceathome

We made slime, then examined it under a 1000× microscope! Want to explore things up close too? The 1000× microscope we used is linked in my bio! Glue contains long chains called polymers. The boric acid in the contact solution helps connect those chains, turning liquid glue into stretchy slime. Under the microscope, we discovered tiny air bubbles, glitter, and a completely different texture! Ingredients: • 1 cup warm water • 1 tsp baking soda • 1 cup clear glue • Food coloring and glitter • About 3 tbsp contact solution containing boric acid #homeschoolmom #stemforkids #scienceexperiments #handsonlearning #slimetutorial

What happens when gas has nowhere to go? This simple experiment is a fun way to explore chemical reactions, gas formation, and pressure! When baking soda and vinegar mix, a chemical reaction produces carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas. The dish soap traps some of that gas in bubbles, creating all that foam. As more CO₂ forms inside the sealed bag, the pressure builds until… POP! Such a fun way to bring science to life! #scienceexperiments #scienceathome #homeschoolmom #homeschooling #handsonlearning

This DIY lava lamp is more than just fun to watch, it introduces kids to density, mixtures, chemical reactions, carbon dioxide gas, and buoyancy. Oil and water don’t mix, and because oil is less dense, it floats on top. Add Alka-Seltzer and a chemical reaction produces CO₂ bubbles that carry the colored water upward. When the gas escapes, the water sinks back down! Such a fun way to get kids observing, questioning, and learning through hands-on science! #scienceexperiments #scienceathome #homeschoolmom #handsonlearning #homeschooling
