I might not have done it like you but it’s gonna be fine. I know I didn’t do it like AJ wanted me to. He wanted me to pattern the room, layout my flooring pieces with the pattern on top, mark my cuts, number them, cut them, and work from the back out. 1. I didn’t want to do that. 2. I just wanted to start. 3. I was trying to do it during a nap time and if I did the patterning I wouldn’t be able to lay it that day. 4. I ended up working on top this flooring when I was glueing it down using the tongue and groove and it was fine, so I figured it would be fine. The floor glue that I’m using has a vapor barrier built in so I didn’t seal the concrete before. I made sure it was level and did a good clean of debris before starting. About the notched trowel, the glue bucket says what size to use. I didn’t read it so maybe it was the right size, maybe it wasn’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️ (edit: i looked into it- it was) I didn’t want to go to store and wait to start. You might be seeing a pattern to my methods… impatient when I decide it’s time. Trust the process, this is what it looked like when I laid this same flooring last year. I chose to Replace the broken cane with upholstered seats for a few reasons. 1. These are going in my guest house that has 4 boys in it. Cane is not ideal. 2. Painted/stained cane gets brittle over time because it blocks the natural fibers from Breathing so it will happen again, also I didn’t want to deal with matching the color. 3. I wanted a quick project. I’ve replaced cane before and it takes me longer than an hour like these two did. The seats will have all over pressure now so I’m Not worried about the cane continuing to break and the new seat falling through. There are also crossed metal bars under the seat for support.

I love my @Transformer Table but I will always add cushions if I can.

I had to wake up at 4 am to leave for where we were headed for the 4th but this isn’t the first or last project that I sacrifice sleep for. I wish I had enough fabric to make the back ties thicker but other than that I’m happy with it

I spent years getting a workout because I didn’t want the ‘hassle’ of pulling out the plastic. But using flat plastic like this pulls out super easily. Make sure to turn your seams all the same way before zipping- trust me, it matters

How long does upholstery actually take?? Well chairs like this can be pretty easy because it’s only staples around the bottom. It took 20 minutes to take apart, 40 minutes to cut and sew and 40 minutes to reupholster and a lot of that was hand sewing because I think a zipper closure looks cheap. I think im on the faster side of my job unless im videoing it then it take 4 times as long. It was refreshing to just get the piece done this time.

So are you team buy new or save the old?

New furniture is usually made of crap. Made to be replaced in 3-5 years. But vintage and create a one of a kind piece for yourself!

Seriously, your corners are giving you away. The sides of your seat should be smooth, they shouldn’t have lumps or bumps, tension should be consistent and all your folds should be under the seat for this type of corner. Have a little patience, work the fabric in and cut out that bulk. You got this!

Normally if it’s the same color it’s off white to off white so it was refreshing to do orange to orange.

I honestly thought his room would be one of the last finished but it might be one of the first. AJs been working hard every night. He spent last week focusing on Forest’s bedroom. His was the least done because we stored our flooring in it so it didn’t even get primed when all the other rooms were. Bedroom color is NY Anonymous by @tonesterpaints ceiling is flat, walls are satin, and the trim is semi gloss in ceramic. Flooring is engineered hardwood from @mcmillanfloors in the color Melfort @theflooringfactory is out go to flooring vendor. Closet base is the pax system from @ikeausa we’ll be trimming it out but I haven’t picked a color yet. I’m waiting on a rug to pick. He handled the base of the room and the rest is up to me. I started with the closet.
